Heard ME has more bugs reported in its first few months than 98 ever has! I like 98, no reason I think to get ME. I'll wait for that Whistler.

WinME

it has a better tcp/ip stack then 98...

but still not as good as Win2k, Win2k (besides Linux) has the best TCP/IP stuff...

IT's TCP/IP stack is newer then 98

it's just better

bugs, yes of course after all it's still based on the 9x kernal

if you want stable and fast internet Win2k is the better choice really...

"Waiting for Whistler"

Do you really want to see how close to it's name this operating system is going to be?

"Whistler" does just that.
It phones home to daddy (Bill Gates) everytime it thinks its found an illegaly installed copy of microsoft products.

Hence, the name, "Whistler"

I'm sure there will be hacks and workarounds if that is the case.

98 is outdated, a million updates and for those waiting for Whisler, alas it is no longer, it is now XP :)

I can't stand ME. It's slow, doesn't do well on networks, not the best driver or product support, major network software like HP Jet Direct isn't even supported under ME. YUCK.

XP is cool, the beta's look really good, although it's going under the knife again for a cosmetic overhaul. Think MS was impressed with Apples new Linux based OS X's transparent windows/menus, and appearance.

I used to have Win 95 on my machine then I upgraded to ME with a clean install. I did this about 5 months ago and I haven't had any problems yet but with 95 i was always having problems. My cable speeds are also faster with ME. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is alot slower on my 233 than 95 was.

System Requirements for Windows Me

VGA or higher resolution monitor
Pentium 150MHz processor or better
32MB of RAM or better
480MB to 645MB free hard-disk space
CD-ROM drive

Although this is the minimum req.. I suggest atleast a celeron 500... with atleast 64meg ram... If U want WinME to work the way it is supposed to work...

In my opinion only I have had the chance to mess with Me. I will agree it has a better TCP\Ip Protocol. But I will contine useing win98se. Till it is perfected more. I get great speeds with win 98se. So why change. But if you do use a full install less hassle. So far the people I have talk to who used the upgrade. Wish they woul have used a full install. Still alittle buggy right now. Just like any windows when it first comes out. But you do what you want .Just don't take my opinion on this. GoodLuck!

Besides the much improved TCP/IP stack, it manages system resources better and is more stable than 9x.

If you have a choice go with W/ME (full version not upgrade).

I do agree with Brent, W2K is the best so far, but it doesn`t work with some Hardware/Software.
