Idea for BF2 to sit out 30 day detention

Post by YeOldeStonecat »

Whaddya say we alternate playing on each others BF2 servers with the ZB guys. We can do even days on one server, odd days on anothers server. Seems we each have a half dozen at the most on our servers during evenings...kinda slow. Combining, we'd have a dozen or so-ish...a bit more fun.

Just a thought to make the next 4 weeks more fun.

see crabtoes's post....it's a week, but the big news is that nobody will get to host ranked servers as part of this fallout. EA and trusted partners only.

That ****ing sucks the big ball.......<img>

So that means, no matter how much we play on our own server, the only way to get to the unlocked weapons and gain rank is by playing someplace else.

Look's like I'll be playing as a unranked soldier with the base gun package. No way I'll play on a EA server...just too many smacktards! Clan server's is where it's at! Always has, always will.

Maybe some of the bigger hosting companies will have clan servers that will have "ranked" servers..dunno. Interested in seeing EA's list of trusted partners.

Ok 30 day detention???? WTH is up with this? all because we lifted the time limit on the demo? Thats really piss poor! I say we find zooner while he's playing bf2 in the buff and toss him in the middle of all them EA guys for punishment! :thumb:

As for switching servers to boost our group as we play that sounds like a great idea.. perhaps we can make it 3?? the D guys , ZB guys and us can switch out each week?? If we go with just ZB and us then thats fine too.
Did I mention that EA can kiss my butt??

Game servers I was meaning to say. Does GheySpy, Fileplanet or Fileshack host their own gaming servers? Dunno If I've seen any from them. Atleast not for BF42 or BFV.

If anyone is familiar with UK servers... Jolt.co.uk will be EA's "trusted" partner for their ranked servers.

Yeah, would be worth looking into if there's an application process. I saw a few over on planetbattlefields forums, a few places are getting signed up. Seems to mostly be game server hosting companies that have a bunch of servers.

man that just cracked me up...

Sorry this is rather off topic...

So if we cant get ranked other than on 'official' ea servers then does that mean it'll be a similar thing to the NFS:U online play? Make an EA account and all that crap?

I would like to voice our displeasure over at Speedguide.Net, of this stance EA has taken.

For a few years now, we built a gaming community with our own money/servers/bandwidth, to run the Battlefield series of games. Starting out with Battlefield 1942, continuing with Battlefield Vietnam, and now on the verge of Battlefield 2.

A handful of us at Speedguide.Net were into the game, we got together to get the game server project going...and brought on board many other members from our technical and broadband forums. Our project drove many sales of bf'42 and bf:v. These are people who would not have bought the game, but because of the gaming community we built within our forums...they went out and purchased those games. I'm not talking just 2-3 copies here...I'm talking dozens and dozens of copies. Purchased by people who would not have purchased the game unless our game server was running it...because our goal is to play something together, as a gaming community, regardless of what the game is.

We've always tried to run a tight game server, no foul language, no racist comments allowed, no smacktard behavior allowed, and have tried to promote the game at its best. And no cheating or use of exploits. Just about every single morning before work, I play on ea.jolt.uk's BF:V Irving 24/7 server. I can't say the same about how that ship is run, it's often smacktard and foul mouthed kiddie central.

We can't believe how strict the stance is on how "hacks" is being interpreted. Unlocking the weapons...I can kinda see that as being a hack. But simply taking off the time limit...that does not promote cheating, that does not promote smacktard behavior, matter of fact...all I can thing of that it promotes...is a more in depth appreciation and enjoyment of the game, you really get your appetite going for the game. More of a taste of the game and what it allows...it does nothing but build the craving for the game.

Raising the time limit should not be seen as something going against what the game is about. It's simply getting people even more hooked on the game.

I'm shocked at this move. There are some long time loyal game server admins here who got smacked the face for our loyalty to EA over the years. Our friends over at ZombieBattalion.com...they've been HUGE promoters of EA games, they've been running servers for MOHAA/SH/COD/UT2K3/4, and every flavor imaginable of those games. A lot of us have run some pretty tight ships before, and did this with intentions of bringing even more draw to the game, even more players who would run out and purchase the game. This wasn't done in a move to enable cheats, exploits, or take any $ away from EA...this was done with good intentions....to draw even more people, period!

I don't give a rats ass about the 'ranked' servers, I'll play with my gaming community and that's sg. No special guns? Oh noes!

Total BF2 Getting Ranked Servers

Post by Illini25 »

TotalBF2 Ranked Servers
Thu 16 Jun 2005, 12:28 AM | Rico | 72 Comments
We just thought we would let you in on some exciting insider info as a quick tease for what's planned. TotalBF2 will be running 25+ ranked servers when Battlefield 2 hits the shelves, so you will always have a good place to play. Not only that, we will be hiring community members to help admin so they should be "tard" free. More details about this project will follow in the run-up to release, but for now I can reveal that they will mainly be in the US and scattered throughout Europe. Information on signing up to become an admin will be announced when were ready to do so. Sound good so far? Let us know!
