BF2 Server...I changed the IP to .56
Due to EA's rediculous move on banning no time limit servers, I set it back to no time limit, but changed the IP to .56 instead of .55.
If you guys want it back to .55 with no time limit, I'll put it back, it just won't be advertised since EA apparently filters out and bans servers with no time limit, and that IP is now blocked.
It's a balance of whatever you guys want, a full server with 12 minute rounds, or no time limit and it's obviously just us SG peeps who know the IP of the server who will be playing, since it won't advertise anymore and draw outsiders in.
Your call, easy enough to change back.
I'm just somewhat concerned over how they're doing those bans, by server name, by IP (which is what it appears to be) or by hash (which would worry me if they carry it into the full version).

Did that seem to work? We tried that on the |ZB| server and we still couldn't get it to list. Maybe Grimm had more luck.YeOldeStonecat wrote:Due to EA's rediculous move on banning no time limit servers, I set it back to no time limit, but changed the IP to .56 instead of .55.

try 2 days!!
but I'm good with the time limit.. its really stupid that ea put it on there but if we are going to keep the server populated its prob the way to go. I just wish EA or whoever wouldn't be so damn stingy over a demo.

I really hope they don't carry this ban over into the full version, like banned via MACs or something.

Well...hopefully it's just the browser list can take time to populate....may take an hour or so.
If this doesn't work, I'll uninstall, delete the directory, bounce, reinstall.

I can't imagine that they would carry a ban like this over into the full version. Honestly I understand the limitiation, as there were many many many demo server running wake island for MONTHS after '42 was released, I think alot of people felt satisfied JUST playing that map over and over.
Demo seems pretty buggy to me, even though my systems a little dated it runs like absolute crap.

*******s
same thing i heard....but i have not seen an official statement saying that
DISSIDENTS FOLDING FOR SPEEDGUIDE INCLUDE:
Crabtoes(4 comps), Illini25(2 comps), 2 Unknown Processors
Days turn to minutes
And minutes to memories
Life sweeps away the dreams
That we have planned
You are young and you are the future
So suck it up and tough it out
And be the best you can

It looks like this ban is for a month according EA...although EA says it's being enforced though Gamespy.
And it also looks like this applies to BF2 servers and not just the demo. According to them...we've broken the EULA.
Also....it appears that this is some sort of hardware ban...I imagine MAC/IP Range as well. If you notice in the folder structure...they are collecting crash data from the game. The files are right there in the dmp folder. All dump files with crash data...being transmitted back to EA for analysis in forming the first patch.
I guess they didn't want the environment changed too much so they could know with 100% certainty what the errors were....
Oh well.....
I still think it's hokey BS.
