I bought my Linksys 10/100 from www.onvia.com for $6 after rebate! It seems to work fine for me.

HEy there its me again

if you are running widows 98 or 98 second eidtion, or windows 2000, or windows me.

I just recently had to cope with finding a new nic card as well so i feel your pain. THE best card that i found was the intel InBusiness 10/100 ethernet card. . ITs plug and play and it works frigiin great. I have had no problems. It goes in your standard pci slot. And comes with great drivers. I promise you, you will have no problems with a winner like this one. I have posted previos info about this card. Look at my previous posts on the forum page. YOU WONT REGRET IT. I paid 49.95 at a computer store brand new. It works with dsl or cable modems.

Post by mattyx »

i have deduced my boot up problems to my NIC.

so i am going to get a new one, plus I need another one anyways so i can set up a home network.

what model should i get, and where can i find one and how much? i searched egghead for intel and 3com cards, but I am not sure what one i want.

Both of those NICs are really good. The 3com card will cost you however. Their 905 series cards run at about 100 bucks. I think the Intel cards are cheaper. The only issue I have ever run across is with the 3com cards. They can sometimes be a pain when you install them into a WinNT 4.0 box.

In terms of performance, both cards are top notch.
