nvidia temps

Post by dcyphure »

gainward gs 6800gt: been trying to oc with this card supposedly built for oc'ers but 411/1100 is my best stable. i want to know how my temps are compared with others and with what type of cooling other than liquid so i have an idea of how good it is stock or how much better i could do with another heatsink/fan
mine is dual hi speed fans with copper heatsink as stock
350/1000- fan at 61%

GPU:60.000 C
PCB:42.125

fan 100% but way too loud
57.625
41.250

What driver are you using for your card?? Some have been boosting temps and some lower.

I've got my GPU down to about 48 or so...when I first installed it I was running what you are now around the 55mark. Loaded a few test drivers and finally found one that works great with my system no issues on any games and dropped the temps way down..

76.41 from Guru3d.com

IMO teh temps arent an issue, the drivers may report lower numbers but i dont see how drivers can lower it on the card so its pointless to me.

just makes the GPU work harder or less to get the results or no results the another driver gives.. I saw frame rate increases past another driver with higher temps at which this one lowered the GPU temp by 10degree's and increased FPS on BFV by like 10 or so.

What i'm saying is if u put a temp sensor on the gpu i'd bet that it reads teh same temp with any driver.

i'm thinking about removing the current loud fans and strapping on 2 120mm fans mostly so it will be alot more quiet and are 78 cfm at 21 decibels it should cool it alot more, if i do that i'm goin to remove the current gpu paste and use some arctic silver
all the actual vga coolers ive seen that listed cfm were either loud or didnt push much air so might try my idea

i'm using 76.41 drivers and their definitly the best drivers ive tried yet, good to know my temps are average for stock then, think i'll keep its current heatsink

GPU is fine until it hits 120C

2 120mm fans pushing 78 cfm each is going to really distort your case's air flow, watch out for a rise in cpu/mobo areas.
