Ok POE Junkies

Post by YARDofSTUF »

System:

3.1-3.2ghz P4C
6800GT
2 raided raptors

I lag like a mofo at medium sound and video settings, comes in every 5-10 secs for a couple secs or even longer. Res is 800x600@32bit

Even at high video settings it looks more cartoony/crappy(related to the skins) than DC, except the m1 tanks

Any advice?

Latest video drivers?

http://www.tweakguides.com/BFV_5.html

Follow that guide to optimize BFV/PoE

You should also tweak PB so it won't try to update so much. I just had a thread in here about PB. But really, it sound slike something is amiss. This game is optimized for Nvidia.

What do you have running in the background? What AV are you using?

BFV and BF don't agree with Norton.

IS BFV updated to v 1.21?????????????

Make sure BFV has been updated.

I get zero lag. I mean look at the videos I made and that'sa while running FRAPS!

Taking a break and cooking a tombstone lol.

So how is it playing now?

have you tried the vsync tweak?

onboard audio or an add-in card?

I would shutdown AVG completely. I use the blackviper hardware profiles so I don't have to mess with crap.

onboard audio card

i can run almost chop free at low sound settings and medium video at 800x600 res at 16bit

was on a public server, lag wasnt a playing problem. dont liek the tanks, all the ion stuff on the bottom blocks my view of what part of the tank is under the turret to know if i'm forward. Turrets on arty adn stuff is a pita, and what the **** is a t90?

I had something similar to this and with DC. Turned out that using Driver Cleaner to clean out the nVidia drivers then reinstalling the latest vid drivers and that fixed things up.
Respect it.

lol

game.setRenderWhenSpawnMenu 1

This setting doesn't exist in Video.con by default, so you must insert it if you wish to use it. When set to 1 (which is the default), whenever you use the Spawn Menu - the large map where you select your spawn point - the background will be rendered as normal. If you are experiencing mouse lag with the Spawn Menu, first set its transparency under the Minimap Transparency option to 0% (See In-Game Settings). If that doesn't help, you can set this setting to 0, which will stop the background rendering while the Spawn Menu is open, allowing perfectly smooth mouse movement. When the Spawn Menu is minimized again, rendering continues as normal.

at this point odds are unlikely for both.

Guru drivers got me good at 800x600@32bit, i'll check driver cleaner out and if that doesnt work its format time.

dude, you should be able to play at max resolution of your monitor with ZERO lag.

Do you have fastwrites enabled or disabled both in BIOS and in vid drivers?

They need to be disabled.

What is your AGP aperature size?

What is the voltage reading in BIOS on the +12v rail?

There is no way in hell that my X800 Pro is gonna outperform your GT in an Nvidia optimized game.

I should be the one having problems here, not you. lol

Are you running any kind of no-cd patch or daemon of any kind???

Here is another great little program that I sugggest everyone use to tweak your system for max performance. It's from Driverheaven and it works great. EXCELLENT documentation explains all the little things right as you apply the tweaks. Good performance boost.

I'm using 76.41 from guru3d.com

I also run the game with a 2.8processor and 1.5gigs of ram on the 6800 GT.
I do have a powerful powersupply as well so that may keep the 6800 running good that might be something as crazy said you might want to look at.

fast writes should always be off. period. 3 years ago it might have made a difference but not now. it causes more problems with it enabled and there is no performance gain whatsoever with them on.

My son has an Athlon 64 3200, 1 gig ram, 6600GT and gets chop on some of the POE maps , mainly Refinery. I have an AMD 2500, 1 gig ram, 9800PRO and get no chop at all.
I just got him a new motherboard, but he is still gets some chop (or freezes) on Refinery.
The only thing I can think of right now is that perhaps his video card is not getting enough power to run some POE maps (or maybe POE just don't like Nvidia)

My son's pc seems to run the other games no problem, just certain maps on POE, so far.
You can run, but you'll just die tired.
