Can My Cable Sevice Host A Web Page

Post by joe435 »

I was wondering if it is possible for my cable to host my page. I certainly have a fast enough computer for it. But does the service support it. If so how do I find out how to set it up.

Most residential providers don't allow servers of any kind. Check your AUP, unless you have a business connection, you are probably not allowed to run a server.

road runner (time warner) will not allow any redidential customer to run a webpage off of them. Because a webpage needs a server to stay active and unless without a special service or permission etc etc. SO for your answer as far as road runner (time warner) is concerned no you cannot use the internet cable serive as a server for webpages.
Yes thats my reflection....

Roadrunner(by Cox Communications) doesn't allow you to run servers. If you have the business class Roadrunner accounts(which runs anywhere from $40 to $300), you can run servers on that; because you have static ips.

So i'm sorry that you can't run servers. Call your RR office, and ask how much a business account costs.
Computer specs:

Dell Dimension 2350 with a 1.7Ghz Intel Celeron Proccesor, Windows XP Home Edition, 80 Gig hard drive, 768Mb of DDRAM PC2100, CDRW and cdrom. Cox.net at 4Mbps down and 512Kbps up.
