Four pelicans have been found in recent weeks with their pouches slashed, wildlife officials said.
That's just wrong.

i believe people who brutalize animals like that should be profiled and tracked like sex offenders.
i think that kind of behavior shows the same kind of dangerous propensity as people who can sexually violate another person.... only in this case, it's the ability to cross the line of sadism/torture upon another person or creature. making the step from animals to humans isn't really that big. i sure as hell would want to know if there's a sicko like that living in my neighborhood.

Up here in BC we have Bald Eagles who are being poached just for their tail feathers and talons. Wilf life officials have found 60+ slaughtered Eagles in shallow graves.

You think that's bad? Chickens are the worst treated animals EVER. Remember that the next time you bite into an Egg McMuffin from McDonald's.sito wrote:I wanna remove your bottom jaw and say the same. Sorry you can't eat, what a fvcking shame.![]()
Feeling sorry for a Pelican is like feeling sorry for a single ant. Remember that next time also, when you have a trillion ants covering your last-night-leftovers on the counter.

I see your point but I don't eat that sewage. Also, It's our job as a dominant species to see that others are allowed to exist as well. Maybe that's where we disagree.Brandon_k_W wrote:You think that's bad? Chickens are the worst treated animals EVER. Remember that the next time you bite into an Egg McMuffin from McDonald's.

I may have you all wrong, but as of now, if Coke killed pellicans, you'd be having a Coke at the beach.

Mystical Folding Minx
Pelicans are notorious for eating HUGE amounts of fish. Up here in Minnesota where walleyes are heavily stocked, pelicans are blamed for basically eating an entire stocking that's done by the DNR. I've seen flocks of them on the water feeding away. I know their not too well liked by the folks up here who fish walleyes allot. (Me included). BUT, I would never shoot one or harm one. I see it as nature taking its course. (Their feeding that is....)
I also know of plenty of ranchers in the Dakotas that blast every eagle they see because the golden eagles out there will eat small lambs and the pheasants they raise.
Sad..........

In the metro you don't see too many of them, but in southern Minnesota where I grew up, you see large flocks of them sitting down on some of the lakes.Izzo wrote:Lakeville huh? ... Bloomington here![]()

i just wanted to clarify my standpoint.....
IMO, there is a difference between raising animals who will soon be killed for the sake of food and/or leather and whatnot, and some jackoff going out to only to torture or defile or cause great pain to another creature.
raising cows and chickens and pigs and sheep and such in poor conditions has a purpose...... to feed our species. some think it;s ok, some don't.... thats why we have vegetarians and vegans, whose points of view i can fully appreciate.
going out with an impliment of torture to brutalize animals is just sick. if they are your enemy or are interfering with your livlihood or spreading disease, fine..... KILL THE DAMN THINGS, but don't maim/torture. it serves no purpose but to satisfy a sick compulsion some people have..... a compulsion that worries me.

Definitly, I always think of more extreme punishments but that is one that the general "sane" public might go for.Faust wrote:i believe people who brutalize animals like that should be profiled and tracked like sex offenders.
