I got Shot At!

Post by General_Jack_As »

So, this was Saturday, around 6pm, and on the freeway heading north (I-25). I was meeting my roomate at this chicks house, and I was bringing a case of beer.

I wasn't paying attention, and talking on the phone, when I accidentially cut someone off. It was my fault, I admit, I should have been paying more attention.

We'll, this guy in a 2000 or above accord, got all pissed, speed up in front of me, cut me off, and slammed on his brakes. Trying to get me to rear end him. I swerve out of the lane to avoid him, and pull up next to him.

Now, were doing like 75-80, and I give him the finger and shout, "**** You, Bitch!" We'll, there were 3 of them in the car. I speed up and picked it up to 90-95 to get away from them.

They were picking up speed to follow me. Then ensued a high speed chase, for about a mile or two, until they caught up with me, and tried running me off the g-d damned free way. I had to swerve into the service lane to avoid them.

That's when I downshifted and cut right in front of them, they almost went into a spin, but regained control, and caught back up with me.

This time, they didn't try to run me off hte freeway, they shot at me. I heard 8 rounds blasted off. One of them ricocheted underneath the car and hit the driver side front wheel. I spun out of control, as I saw three more holes rip through my passenger side of the car.

I wrecked into the highway median, destroying the front of my car, and now I have 3 bullet holes in my car. If I had any passengers (Back seat), and Maybe in the front seat, they could have been dead, based on these bullet holes.

I didn't call the police, cause I don't have car insurance. So, I just said screw it, and drove off. I'll have to get pictures SOON!

Look it, It was a random shooting. I am okay, and that's whats important. The cops would have come up to me, ask me if I got a license, a description of the car, and my registration, license and insurance.

I would have said, late 00's red accord, I didn't get the plates cause I was busy dodging bullets, and that I don't have insurance. We'll, no insurance is a ticket. Then after giving me my ticket, they would have driven off and forgotten about it.

The cops have to deal with gang violence, and drug deals, and other way more f*cked up ****. They aren't going to care, and just issue me a ticket for the no insurance. That's a $400 ticket. So, I'll just fix it myself, and f*ck them

Man, you're lucky. You shouldn't have escalated the situation like that tho...

I'd get the bullet holes fixed, and remove any unique identifiers off of your car..... They prolly didn't get your plate #'s either, but could remember stickers etc.

That's pretty scary to hear about, let alone being in that situation.

I drove without insurance for a year, saved myself a grand or so. Now that I bought a new car, I force myself to buy insurance, no matter how much I hate it.

Glad you're Ok but I hope you've learned to restrain yourself and not try to one-up the other guy.

Where did it happen, I-25 or I-40? (I know the area and am just trying to place it).

Glad to hear you're ok at least, that's some scarey stuff.

I'm pretty calm 99% of the time I drive but when I lose it I really lose it. I hate that feeling afterwards when I realize how truly pissed off I am, can feel the adrenaline pumping through my system, and realize that if I'd gotten pulled at the speed I was flying along while flipping someone off and screaming at them that I'd lose my license for sure, heh.

Easy to get carried away in something like that. Glad to hear you're ok and good luck with the car.

Ah, it was only an itty bitty gun, no biggy, it was their constitutional right to shoot at you cause you were not paying attention, and talking on the phone cut them off, jammed your brakes in front of them, You gave him the finger and shout, "**** You, Bitch!", You downshifted and cut right in front of them sending them into a spin, you didn't have car insurance.Should have got their licence plate# so someone could give them a metal for trying to get a menace off the road

I think this was their maneuver actually.

I'd've been furious if I was them too, but shooting at someone is way the hell out of line IMO.

Not reporting an accident is just as illegal as not having insurance. You shouldve got a plate number and reported those punks. its good that you were not hurt though.

And if you had careened out of control into someone elses car, what then? Not meaning to preach to you, but not having insurance, at least liability is not smart. If you had hit someone else and it resulted in serious injury or death, regardless of the reason, you'd have been up the proverbial creek without a paddle. I know it's expensive and a racket, but could save you from losing everything you own.

Secondly, as far as not calling the police, what prevents those idiots from going postal on someone else. Possibly even a family member. If nothing else a quick call to the police to report the incident and give a vehicle discription would have been something. You could have remained anonymous.

I'd love to see the pics, im a fellow gun nut and can probably tell the round just by the hole haha. Its true about insurance, its really not worth the money you would save per year to go without it when if you hit someone, etc you can be sued and lose everything you own and then some. I pay $180 a month for two cars, and thats not even full coverage on one of them, expensive but I wanna keep my house thanks.

When I was shot at it, we did not have a license number and they caught the guys and busted them. It helps they did it to some other people the night before, earlier the same night, and again the next night.

Carrying a gun isn't going to do much for you IMO. If you get pulled over and you have anything that might get you in trouble, you could be in a HELL of a lot more trouble. A shootout going down the highway isn't a realistic situation, and you don't want to shoot anyone going the opposite direction.

You can get insurance fairly cheaply if you get just the minimum. Ihave driven a bit without it, and now that I have the minimum I can not believe how cheap it is. Well worth the peace of mind

Glad your ok

His actions were understandable. American drivers don't take driving seriously enough, drinking, eating, talking on phones, it's ridiculous. I have to swerve atleast 5 times a day to avoid getting hit by somebody talking on a cell, drinking, or a woman in an SUV. Don't even get me started on old people.
