ok besides highschools, colleges, and eagle scouts.. where do you think i can advertise this recruiting thing that would target to 18-25 year olds?
i was thinking like church youth groups then after thinking about it a little more figured that wouldnt be such a good idea.
any other suggestions??

Don't be silly, do you really think there are no Christians in the military? Surely you don't think they are all Atheist? You have Chaplains don't you? I think you'd be surprised how many church members are active military or NG.
we do have an open slot for a chaplains assistant..Scott wrote:Don't be silly, do you really think there are no Christians in the military? Surely you don't think they are all Atheist? You have Chaplains don't you? I think you'd be surprised how many church members are active military or NG.

im not a recruiter, im actually the retention NCO. but we work pretty close together on things.KsJason wrote:Are you a recruiter or are you getting the hit from the AG and the state SGM like we are in getting our strength up?
its sort of both though. Are numbers are terrible and they are getting worse. so the state CSGM and everyone down the line are feeling the heat to get the numbers up.

Oh, how sweet. Maybe you can reply to Wee like this next time instead of "Where'd you get a lame idea like that????"Scott wrote:Don't be silly, do you really think there are no Christians in the military? its hard because we cant offer "one weekend a month, and 2 weeks in the summer for a free college education!" anymore. now with the risk of deployment out there people are just scared.schlurpee wrote:I would imagine recruiting is getting tough since the economy is picking up jobs, and the long deployments of reservists.
kinda makes me mad at the youth of this country. its like sure i would volunteer for a free ride, but u want me to actually work for my college money and serve my country? no way!
ive talked to more then a few highschool students at a past recruiting event, they were all members of the JrROTC program thats supposed to get kids ready to go into the military, even them, none seemed to be interesting in joining after highschool.
i dont know if its the media, or the government but something is wrong with patriotism when everyone is wearing support your troops ribbons on their cars, yet no one wants to join, no one wants their family members to join or their friends or their employees, etc...
its like, oh yea im patriotic! but not enough to actually sacrafice anything for the country.

If the pay was higher, I'm sure you'd have a waiting list to get in. We live in a capitalistic society, risk vs reward. The flip side of the coin is why don't we pay them more to risk their lives. We have no problem paying contractors 100k plus to guard convoys etc, but if your a soldier you get like 20k for the same job. Doesn't make sense.Meggie wrote:its hard because we cant offer "one weekend a month, and 2 weeks in the summer for a free college education!" anymore. now with the risk of deployment out there people are just scared.

My son ... ask for thyself another internet connection, for that which I leave is too slow for thee
Almost, we have a community center in my town thats a skate park, they have some in Portland that are after school centers with pool tables, counciling, movies and drug free zones to keep them out of trouble and off the streets commiting crimes. Some churches have community centers, maybe like a girls of boys club kind of place.Meggie wrote:whats a community center? like a ymca?
the only problem with that is that a lot of homeless people are addicted to one substance or another or dont have theyre highschool deploma... and besides that we dont offer housing..Joint Chiefs of Staff wrote:Might sound lame to some but have your tried the homeless shelters?
thanks for the suggestion though

I agree about higher pay, Here are some the extras you get for going to iraq.
Family Separation Allowance = All Grades: $250
Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay ALL GRADES – 150.00
Imminent Danger Pay/Hostile Fire Pay ALL GRADES – 225.00
Now come on 250 bucks a month to be away from your family for 18 months.
