Man, I love my new Toyota Celica! *PICS*

2000 GT-S, 80,000 miles, for $12,600

Everything is Stock, which is incredibly hard to find for a Celica. Spent 5 hours detailing it.

Great looking car, very good choice :) Ive got a 01 Corolla S, same steering wheel. Celica's have some good aftermarket parts if your ever going to beef it up, the 1ZZFE engine is alittle weak in Corolla and Celica GT form (on the other hand the VVT-i gets a lift boost in the GTS and gives it 180hp which youve got :D ). I wish I had gone for the Celica these days.

nice chick car!!

j/j :p 180 hp seems like it would be enough in that car. However the aftermarket would definatly be intersting. Get that little thing up to around 250hp and i bet it would FLY! :thumb:

Do some lookin into the TRD parts. Nothing forced induction, but Toyota makes the stuff so it's a cinch it'll fit and play nicely with the stock computer. I know a guy with a Matrix that has oodles of TRD bits on it and it flat out moves. Revs like a top and handles like a Miata.

And for Pete's sake don't get that garish "looks fast" factory body kit.

BTW, you could weld the hood shut and it'll run longer than most domestics. Toyota makes a damn fine vehicle.

Hrmmm funny.....I had a 2000 Mustang GT never had a problem with it and I beat the snot outta it :thumb: . Put 65k miles on it before I traded it on for my Mach1. ON the other hand a friend had a 2001 honda accord. Thing seemed to be in the shop every other weekend :rotfl: . Good thing he had a warranty I heard imports can get rather expensive for repairs.

So weld the hood shut on your import, remove the seats/cigarrette lighter/winshield wipers/door paneling/radio/all other things that weigh more than 1 ounce and mod it to get that thing into the 13's. I blow buy you in my mostly stock domestic 04 Mach1. 13.3 @ 105MPH down to the stock tires. Yeap domestics suck!!!! :nope:

BTW didn't the 04 stang get the #1 rating this past year for fewest problems per car hrmmmmmm

I said most domestics. The kind that would be in the same price range as a Celica. And I'll race you ANYDAY ANYTIME in yer Mach1 and laugh my arse off when I burn you....I don't think a 13 second car will compete with a mid 12 import. No weight reduction, looks totally stock too, except for the larger scoop for the intercooler. Just a humble lookin WAGON that'll scorch a C5 in the quarter, no wings, no stickers. Just a mommy-mobile that has ~400hp from 2 litres.

wee-

Forgot that Toyota had that 'charger out on the market. Only one I've seen/heard about is for the 6 cylinder in the Tacomas and Pathfinders. Had no idea they made one for the 4 bangers. That would be a nice little pocket-rocket with some low-end grunt.

*edit*

Sorry for thread crapping Brandon. Mike, if ya wanna sling mud, start a new thread. I like all kinds of cars, domestics included. Just have a poke around in Consumer Digest on ratings and such and you'll see that Toyota does indeed make some oddly reliable cars/trucks. ON AVERAGE Japanese cars enjoy a better track-record than comparible domestically derived vehicles.

Shiat...better not be having problems at 65k miles, thats just starting to get broken in! THen again it is a Ford so i would expect it to blow at any time! :D

and 13's in the quarter isn't exactly QUICK.....don't get me wrong i would be happy if my car did that, maybe after i get a new engine and some mods, but 13's isn't roasting everything....

For a car 13's is quick, most cars on the road cant do it stock. A 03 Cobra does 13 flat, and its NOT slow haha. Now truely fast is a 9 second Supra :D

A car that runs 13 flat will beat 99% of the production cars out there. There are only a handful that run in the 12's off the showroom.

Hehe 13.3 (w/ a 2.1 60'-not great) is stock and I'm not the best driver in the world. A few guys have ran 12.9's stock down to the stock rubber. What did you car do stock anyways? I haven't yet ran the 1/4 with my newly installed 4/10's and slicks, I'm expecting atleast a mid 12's!! Through some bolt ons(exhaust/chip/pulley) or supercharger or NOS into the Mach and forget about it...its all over! :thumb: O BTW what kinda car you have and what mods? I know there's gotta be some FI in there no way your N/A. 13.3 N/A baby no mods..NOTHING!!!!

Also my stang with 65k miles on it.....Those were not your average everyday run the car around town miles. I did aprox 45 1/4 miles runs in that car! Lord knows how many other times I romped on it getting onto the highway!

If a car can beat another car, it doesnt matter what youve "done" to it, its STILL faster. IF I put nitrous on a car and beat you in a race, MY CAR IS FASTER. The people I hate are those who think there is "cheating" in a race, best example is nitrous or some type of FI. Just because your car is NA but slower than brembo's turbocharged boxer engine, it doesnt mean anything. It means your still slower "oh but if I had blah blah" well, you dont. When you do, then you can talk. Ughh I hate to crap the thread Brandon sorry, just annoys me.

I do have the 4.10s and the slicks :D The 13.3 was stock I have not yet ran the 1/4 with the 4.10s and slicks. Never said brembo was cheating I just asked what kinda car he had and what it ran stock...never said NOS is cheating. I just want to run this car N/A first to see how low I can go before adding the power adder, ...Most likely a Vortech supercharger 8PSI. I'm thinking with all the bolt ons and slicks I should be in the neighborhood of very low 12's high 11's. Vortech defintaely=11's.

Just makes me laugh when people say domestics are not reliable when I have seen the exact opposite.

O and about the 9 second supras.....Don't get me wrong they are great cars with very mod friendly engines! However they have ALOT of trouble geteting that power to the ground that is why in drag racing RWD > FWD. I've 550HP supras spinning tires down the 1/4 and pull a 13.1!

O and BTW nice car BRANDON_k_W. I actually like the looks and the interior looks magnificient. :thumb:

I agree with you that domestics are becoming suprisingly more reliable, although they still have some catching up to do. A mach1 with the vortech blower would be alot of fun and it wouldnt be hard to run low 12's. I agree with you also about supras having trouble keeping the power to the ground, as I know lots of guys with 600+hp and they just simply roast the tires, its too much to hold onto. I have a vid I posted of a 800rwhp supra trying to race a turbo hayabusa (bike) and you can hear him constantly losing the rear end trying to keep it alive. Still love the cars to death though and would give anything to have one, even if I cant keep the rear end from sliding :D

Mike I have a 2003 WRX Wagon. Worked turbo and computer, exhaust and pulleys. Spikes at around 22 psi, levels out around 19 on 93 octane. 3" exhaust all the way to the back(cats got lost somewhere...dunno where either) with a "tip" of sorts to make it look legal. Tein Powerwagon coilovers, Perrin anti-sways and Progressive urethane(prothane I think) bushings, Willwood brake lines, 4 pot calipers and DBA slotted aluminum hat slotted rotors, and Hawk carbon-fibre pads. It is a roll-cage away from a racecar. Rides like a skateboard, friends have named it the "kidney-puncher". I use a G-Tech Pro drag comp for data logging. It pulls over 1 g in first and 1 g thru second. I have the shift points mapped for "optimal" shifts and a red led aimed at the 'ole eyeball. Consistent 1.6 60 foot times are the norm. The occasional 1.5, and the occasional 1.8....depends on the intercooler heatsoak. But, dragging this car is not what it's about. It's more fun to toss it into turns and use the gas to modulate the oversteer/understeer. Clicking off good shifts to keep the turbo on a boil. I'd have been a fool to buy an AWD car for dragging, as it is painfully evident that a RWD V8 is the platform that excels in that realm. Just happens that in a red-light dash the WRX does a good job hooking up. Wheelspin even kinda helps, lets the turbo spool up a bit faster. Slicks would destroy the tranny, my S-03's do the trick just fine, if I manage to spin em, I'm doing VERY illegal things.

 Sounds like you have your self a sweet setup there! 1.5 60' is just sick. I've had a run in with one STi a few months back (of course on the track :D ). He took me outta the whole pretty good, however I did start to real him in and finally edge pass him(1/4 would have been close). Damn AWD!!!! I'm still getting used to the mach as far as launching. Anyhow thanks for the info..and in such great detail :thumb:
