Your take on the latest, free version, of AVG

Post by darlin »

Hi,
I just wanted to get some input from people using the latest, free, version of AVG.

I know it's been out for awhile, but I'd just like to hear the pros and cons about the program before I decide.
Thanks. :)

Real time seems close to the older AVG as far as system performance hit goes..."Not too bad"..but what I don't like, is now the manual scans are excruciatingly long in scantime.

Which for most users, isn't an issue, but for me, I often use it as a second opinion when working on infected machines, and I have to wait for that scan to finish before moving onto the next step.

But hey, for free....it does the job. I've found Avast a bit too clunky, and I've seen it (again just last week) let systems get badly infected.

AVG is all we run here with the occasional online scan from Trend , Panda or Symantic back when Ver.7 was released just to make sure.
There appeared to be a few teething problems with updates but all's good now.

My biggest complaint is that it needs a new icon :p
