Linksys BEFSX41 1.50.18 firmware...

Post by crazyjw1971 »

Has anyone had a problem with this firmware?

I flashed my router with this firmware and had the following problems...

1. No IDENT response when using mIRC. I disabled the "IDENT filtering" in the setup page and forwarded port 113 to the PC that has mIRC installed. Not too much of a problem except it takes up to a minute or two to connect to IRC servers. Annoying....

2. No internet connection if I manually set the MTU to 1500. Strange...

3. DHCP doesnt function properly. I have a laptop and I attempted to renew the IP several times and was unsuccessful...

4. Outside FTP access was non-existant. I forwarded port 20 and 21 to the PC running the FTP server. Arghhhh!

After fooling around with this for almost a day, I gave up and flashed it back to 1.45.3...

Stay away from firmware 1.50.18!

Use Firmware 1.51.0 its been the most stable firmware by far. Believe me, I've tried them all.

Where did you get it from? This is for a BEFSX41 correct?

Thanks illest, but...

I upgraded to this firmware last night and everything was fine except I was still having a IDENT Port 113 problem. I went back to 1.45.7.

Anyone using SNET/SBC/Yahoo DSL....in the past couple of weeks I ran into huge problems with SX routers running the 1.50 firmware.
Slow
3 out of 4 websites simply won't come up, yet a few basic ones like Google and Yahoo will. And...ONLY if I disable MTU, as leaving MTU set to the standard 1492 simply shuts down all web access.

I don't know what the issue is...I fiddled around a lot, can't get 1.50 working correctly anymore with the DSL around here as of a few weeks ago. So customers that I had upgraded to 1.50 in the past few months, I flashed back to 1.45.7, and routers that I did new setups with that had 1.50 out of the box, such as a client last week...I flashed back to 1.45.7.

There is a beta 1.52 floating around out there...I'm not going to try it though.

the 1.52 beta you speak of is actually the best version I've used yet. Fastest, stablest, etc

Where is this firmware?

Post by Zanriel »

I've been looking all over the place and I can't find that 1.45.7 firmware. I'm having the exact same problem with 1.50.18 as everyone else... it basically refuses to play nice with PPPOE.

The closest I've found is 1.45.3.

Does anyone have a link? Or wanna e-mail me that firmware? zanriel@orderoftwilight.com.

Thanks!

I finally found firmware that works. I was having the same problem everyone else was having with DSL not working with that router.

However, 1.45.3 works fine. The one I ended up using, however, was 1.50.9, which also works flawlessly.

It turns out that as far as I can tell, there is no 1.45.7 version for that particular router. The one I found was here:

 It's the most stable one out there. Can find many links for it. Here's one, Flogater from DSL Reports has many threads on the SX firmware versions.

Also 1.53 firmware if you wish to try...
