Wireless Router Recommendations

Post by snowpatrol »

Hey, I need some recommendations for wireless routers. I have looked at reviews for a couple and some say the signal keeps dropping and stuff. Im going to use it for internet sharing but I want to be able to set bandwidth limits for both computers so if one is downloading it doesn’t slow the other one down. I also need help choosing a USB wireless adaptor for one of my computers. (The other one will be wired)

Thanks for any advice

I have a US Robotics usr8054 wireless router, works great, wireless speeds at or near 125 mbs with the latest firmware update ( free from their website)
I have an xbox wired to it and two pc's one wired and the other wireless( with pci card also from U.S. Robotics). Extremely pleased with performance to date and would recommend this router to anyone.

Verify that the router supports bandwidth throttling (or QoS) - and be prepared to pay dearly. To my knowledge, that is still a business class feature - especially for 802.11x.

Have fun,

Sveasoft produces their own firmware for the Linksys units (not all) that has its on QoS functionality that lets you prioritize traffic and individual IP addresses.
