Help with a presentation..... Powerpoint?

I need help with a presentation on how to build a computer. I have done all the written work but I need to make a power point presentation on how to build a computer.

I am going to use power point as a so called aid.. I just don't know where to start or what to do.. Can you guys help me with this. I'm totally lost with power point and haven't had much experience with power point.

And thank you guys for that help with that portfolio

I would go through:

-Parts required to build

-steps that need to be taken

-precautions you need to take

-time it will take

-any additional info you deem relevant

Dont have too much on one slide and make sure that you can still see the font against your background.

Its not that hard, youll do fine

How about this I forgot to say it had to be within 10 minutes..

ya that is the first thing I did was said what parts are required. and tools

I would be more worried about filling up a 10 minute space, better to have too much and be able to cut some out

I'm asking about a little of both. How would I set this up. and How to use power point.... But I think Acefireball answered most of how to set it up but I'm a little skeptical..

Ok im going to assume you know very little about powerpoint.

A powerpoint presentation is made up of slides. In each slide you can put different sorts of information in the form of text, pictures, or movies. Each slide is like a different page in a book. If you are using PP 2000+ on the left side is the slide viewer. Right click here and select new slide. This will give you a new slide where you can add whatever you wish. Keep doing this for all your slides. You should order your slides in the way you wish to present them to your audience. Make sure they are in some sort of logical order. To view your slide, press F5. If you need an example, you can look at my presentation done in Powerpoint here: http://www.mattys.info/homework/InfoTec ... on_new.ppt
There is actually a song that goes along with it but you dont need to worry about that. If you have any more questions just ask.

Im sorry once more Im nervious as heck now. The presentation is due tomorrow and I wake up at 6am to go to school I need advices as how to set my presentation up on how to build a computer. I neeed to hit all the main Ideas. I really really need this after this I willl probably never ask for school advice if I do graduate. because this basicly decides if I do graduate or not.. Please please. Thank you I already am using the advice on how to use power point I just need a little guidance on how to set my presentation.

If you have ten minutes...

1-2 Minutes introduction, make an overview, just one page with the topics you'll discuss (like an index), give a brief(!) explanation of each point on your slide, a sort of index
6-8 Minutes main part, with the content, I usually make 1-2 slides per topic (see "index"), just key points on the slides, keeps people interested in what you have to say, in contrast to having large texts on the slides and people reading that.
1-2 Minutes conclusion, wrap things up, give again a brief(!) summary of what you've said, 1 slide max usually, if any.

If not explicitly prohibited, leave a couple of minutes of your time for questions from the audience.

Lastly, prepare your material, at max have a few notes with you. Don't read of a sheet, speak freely and be confident with the material you're presenting (shouldn't be an issue). Keep your hands out of your pockets, and mostly to your sides. Too many gestures again distract the audience. Keep eyecontact with the entire audience (hence no reading), let your eyes scan the people from left to right, looking at people for a few seconds (keeping their interest, again), but of course not staring. Also, be certain not just to focus on the teacher, but on the students as well.

If you manage to keep the audience's attention for your presentation and know your stuff well, you'll do good.

Also, minimize on the sounds and cool stuff you can do with the text. It might look cool at first, but it is not very professional looking. Keep the text on the presentation short and maximize on pictures. Use this as reminding tool for you, and only use bullets to cover your main points. Do not get caught reading from it, you will look unprepared. Slide handouts can be cool, to give your audience a way of taking notes.

Most of all relax, and picture yourself in your underwear. I mean don't wear underwear. Hmmm... Ok forget that. Just Relax...

Yes, good points as well, Ric. Use special effects (animations, sounds, colors) very rarely and only if you have a good reason to do so. Otherwise, bold and underline do very well for adding emphasis. The reason for this is again to get the audience to focus on what you're saying, and not on the special effect that WILL draw their attention.

Also, try practicing your presentation with your parents/siblings/friends or something, make them the audience. It will give you a sense of how long your presentation is, at a time where you can still add content to make it longer or leave parts out that are not so important.

Maybe stupid, but maybe saving your butt: take into account all the things your teacher has told you about the presentation. Maybe he's expecting something different than your "standard" business presentation, which is what I and others are talking about. Did he/she give you any hints in regards to content, format, presentation skills? If so, mind them!!!

This is your Instructor, did I not tell you this was an independent project in the instructions!!!

I hope you give credit where credit is due (to all those techies at speedguide); cite your sources at the end of the presentation...I'm watching you!!

Ahm, yes, google can be your friend. But I think he deserves credit for wanting to put his own effort into it. There's a difference between asking for help and taking someone else's work... aside from that, he probably couldn't judge properly whether the presentation that google gives him would actually be a good one.

It can never hurt to improve on one's presentation skills by putting effort into making one yourself.

BTW: good luck for your presentation, Christopher!
