What fun it is
Environment Canada's Official Weather Warnings
Warnings
Bruce Peninsula - Sauble Beach - Tobermory
8:44 PM EST Sunday 19 December 2004
Snowsquall warning for
Bruce Peninsula - Sauble Beach - Tobermory continued
Snowsqualls with whiteout conditions overnight into Monday morning.
This is a warning that snowsqualls are imminent or occurring in these
Regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.
Intense northerly snowsqualls persist in the traditional snowbelt areas south of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and will continue overnight. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 centimetres are likely along with whiteout conditions due to blowing snow and heavy snow.
Intense snowsqualls extends along the eastern shore of Lake Huron from south of Port Elgin to Grand Bend to west of Strathroy and down to Lake Erie at times. Snowsqualls are also coming in off of Georgian Bay from Tobermory to Wasaga Beach.
With plummeting temperatures combined with strong northerly winds wind chills will return the minus 30 to minus 40 range by overnight and Monday morning.
The warning level for all areas from Barrie to Kingston and south is Minus 30..With minus 40 being the warning level for remaining regions further north.
Extreme caution is advised for travellers in these regions. Ontario provincial police reports have already indicated low to at times nil visibility and poor driving conditions in squalls earlier today.
Dangerous driving conditions will continue in the snowsqualls and travel plans should be thus adjusted accordingly.
In addition because of the high wind chills frostbite can occur on exposed skin in a short period of time.
The snowsqualls will taper off and wind chills will improve Monday morning as an approaching Arctic high pressure ridge allows the winds to diminish.
Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details.
