Anyone here live in Michigan?

Post by mikemean »

My brother and his wife want me to move to Macomb, Michigan with them. Anyone been there or lived there? I guess it is a suburb of Detroit. I am considering it, but the only problem is I have no way to get me or my stuff over there. Plus I have a hard time just picking up and moving somewhere without a job.

All though I agree with BMED, I also understand your predicament. Mike, ya gotta start over somewhere and get out of that situation! I hope you can find somewhere to relax and put the past behind you. Michigan may not be the solution, but its a step closer than being stuck where your at. Just my opinion. :)

Been to Macomb. Is a populated suburb. A little Pricy there. Good news is you are only a few minutes from many lakes, close to Great lake. State land & parks are close, too. In 45 min you can be in the Country.

Get a temporary place. It is too close to some Real Nice areas to live. Give yourself a year or so to check-out your options there.

Michigan is a beautiful place to live. Countless lakes, covered in trees, 4 seasons, low taxes.

You will like Macomb if you like city-living & convenience.

Well, all I am doing right now is thinking about it. I really don't want to leave Montana.

Yes it is Macomb, Michingan. I don't know if it is a township or not. My brother and his wife have a manufactured home in a trailer park I guess. He said his house payment is $400+ and the lot rent is $400+ too. They say it is nice.

Don't get me wrong, I was born here and will die here....can't leave for some reason.

I say give it a try, what do you have to lose. I'm not sure but I think the gay community is a tad bit larger than Montana, just a guess.

What kind of work do you do? You may have a better chance out here.... go for it!

Keeper is right, Michigan is a beautiful place to live. Countless lakes, covered in trees, 4 seasons, low taxes and did I mention Countless lakes.

It may be a liitle more fast paced than where you are now, but maybe that would be good for you right now.

Good luck with your decision, maybe we'll see ya soon.

I work in the deli department of a lcoal grocery store. That is what I do. My brother's wife says there are lots of grocery stores in that area. I talked with my brother last night and he said I could use one of their cars. I think he is lonely for his family. All of us live over here in Montana. I have been thinking about this a few times a day. I figure if I am going to do it I should do it this summer (but I am still only thinking about it).

Michigan here also. Live in Westland work in Ann Arbor and our family has a cottage in Fenton (near Flint). Was born here and really can't see moving anywhere else. Hockey in the winter, water skiing, hiking, and camping in the spring/summer/fall. Where else can you drive for less than 4 hours and be in a big city, the country, or another country (Ontario has lot's of great parks and such for camping and canoing). Great place to be. oh yeah, GO WINGS!

I like Michigan. The state hasn't done me any wrong (so far). Never been hit by a tornado, never been flooded, never been hailed to death, no poisonous insects (deadly).

The weather can be utterly depressing sometimes and the roads are the worst in this country, but hey...give it a shot man and judge for yourself.

Macomb, Michigan? As in Macomb Township? Its a nice city infact, im 2 miles from there. Wee is like 1-2 miles from me too. Macomb has a lot of newer houses, very large and yes, pricey. Nice city to live in.

Also, Mich. just passed a 'shall-issue' law for CCWs. Just became the 32nd state to pass the law.

Anyone with a clean criminal record can carry a concealed pistol [effective in July].

Crime is going to take a dive. The last 31 states that passed it have a 21-45% reduction in overall crime & murder rate.

Most won't carry a gun, but the criminals don't know who is & who isn't.

Am surprized such a Liberal state passed the law.

With the inevitable crime-reduction, I might have been Out-of-Work [lawman]. But Agency just reassigned me to "Kansas"....YUK.

There is nothing here [in KS], just flat, wheat, and folk from the Witness Protection Program....and now its Tornado season.

Wages here are stuck in the 1970s.

Am praying for the chance to get back to MI.
