I am LOVING my dell 2005fpw!

Post by zooner »

I got it a couple of days ago and I am lovin it!!

Image

It has 4 inputs, including svideo and rca video. I can watch TV independent of windows. This is great for sniping, when there is a lot of downtime

Image

Even better is gaming. I can findly feel the full power of my leadtek 6800gt. This is bfv @ 1600x1050.

Image

I'm running it at a resolution that is 90% of the recommended resolution of 1600x1050, makes the text nice and easy to read. Talk about TONS of desktop real estate. I had word and adobe open yesterday and was using adobe as a reference to do some homework, no issues at all with desktop limitations!!

oh yeah man I got the UltraSharp 2005FPW 20.1-inch also and it kicks ass!!

its worth the 800$ I think.... I'd like to get another and run dual monitors soon.. perhaps in the spring when I build a new system. But I'm not running the resolution that high I just don't like squinting to see icons.

I created some custom resolutions that fit my needs. I agree, the default is INSANE.

Personally i think running the LCD at anything other than the native resolution yeilds sub par image results. You can adjust the icon and font size of everything so that your not squinting at all. Just thought you might want to check into it.

BTW, Very nice looking and sexy monitors. I've been quite happy with my 2001fp and plan on getting a second to run dual displays soon.

I used the 25% off coupon and stacked a $30 off, bringing it down to $560. Then, I checked that I wanted to pay with a credit card and was given an additional 2% off for paying with dell account.

Then, I emailed them and explained that I'm a student and would like a student discount.

They gave me a $50 off concession coupon, which I used to purchase the underlying speaker set. I wanted to speakers to be an independent audio output for tv watchage. right now they're running on audio in, which is a pain.

Agreed. It's a waste to run an LCD panel at any but its native res.

surprisingly, it's very stable.

I was ready to buy an arm for it, to attach to either the wall or my desk because I was concerned about tippage.

The base is heavy and has a nice wide base, it's not going anywhere. I've spent the money on other things instead of an arm.

I want on really bad! I am so tempted to get one of these. The problem I have is that I do not have a dektop machine. Only laptops which both have widescreen. But damn, 20" of widesreen would be sweet!

I dont feel the 20" is really much bigger then my 8600's swvga+'s 15.4" screen. Because you sit closer, you're not missing too much.

My monitor was sold as part of a computer deal I cooked up. So, I really didn't even pay for this monitor.

Not accepting the 25% off coupon.... hmmm.
I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

Hmm. I've been debating on an LCD to get for my home system. I haven't found one that meets all my needs.

This looks like a likely contender. Thanks for the review!

I would appreciate any kind of 20-25% discount that you can find.

A PM would be great.

Thanks. :)

just keep trying on the dellf.

you dont have to use real emails and you can continue to re-enter until you get what you want.

I've played 4 hours striaght before. You can even use the EXACT same name/email for all four of your friends EVERY time. autofill is your friend.

You'd have even more space if your taskbar size wasn't set to 20,000

really, I am.

I know you can make it single layer, double layer etc; however i didnt know you could actually adjust the thickness of each layer.

I'd shrink it and then make it double layer, for faster quicklaunch.
