We've been through this before, but ok here goes again:

I know the meaning of life, I have for quite sometime now:

It's to be born, as a sinner, then to grow up and learn about God growing up and then Know Jesus and becomed Saved by asking Jesus into your life and to forgive you of your sins and to change your ways. You then study the bible all your life learning about God and walking the path of Jesus. Along the way you tell everyone you meet the peace that you have found and you show them the way, if they will come. And you do that and honor and praise the Lord all your life doing all you can to help people in that manner, and then you die and live forever in Heaven.

The End

Meaning of life is to be able to define the universe with two examples.

I'm working on the second example. :D
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

To sacrifice for someone else. Only then can your existence be truly deemed valuable.

That and to have as much fun as possible :)

Long Version

To answer this question, first and foremost the term Life must be defined.

LIFE = a static, which has the power of organizing & destroying matter, energy and space, and possibly time. The static is "You", the life force, spirit, soul, whatever you wish to call it. But it does exist. You are not your mind and you are not your body.

Life poses and resolves problems. Life is engaged in activities that it has created for it's own pleasure. Life is seeking to survive, that is all. By survive is meant the thrust away from pain toward pleasure.
Survival is more than "bare necessities". Survival includes anything and everything that helps one live. Life is living in different realms. There is the realm of oneself, one's family, one's group, and the realm of mankind as a whole.

Life is involved in all of these realms or areas of existance and activity. Life is surviving to the degree that it participates and contributes to these various dynamic areas iof activities. Life ceases to survive to the degree that it inhibits or harms these areas of activity.

The "meaning" of life as a whole can only be defined in these simple terms. The meaning of "one's own life" differs from person to person and cannot be forced upon another. We all have different goals and dreams. We have different likes & dislikes.

Life is also seeking to survive as matter, energy space & time, the most basic components of the physical universe. Everything in the physical universe is composed in part of matter, energy, space & time.

Life also seeks survival of other living things, ie plants & animals.

Life also seeks to survive as a spirit, or the survival of spiritual principles and ideas.

Life also seeks to survive as a supreme being, or at least the idea of one.

The degree to which an individual denys or harms or inhibits or transgresses against these areas of Life, he is unhappy.

Saddness, pain, sorrow and even death are the direct result of one's non-sufrvival efforts against life.

Want more happiness? Start living Life in the fullest means possible. Get active in the areas of Life that you have been ignoring! Move "out of yourself" as the center of existance and get involved in other areas of Life. Really get involved!

Life is booby-trapped. Life has built in mechanisms that can prevent one from participating in Life. But these mechanisms can be overcome! Many different methologies have been developed to help one overcome these booby-traps. Religion is a prime example. The test of any religion is "does it help to improve the qualities of Life?"

If it does, than so be it. If it doesn't, then put those religious ideas in the recycle bin!

What is the meaning of Life? Survival & happiness! What is happiness? Happiness is the "overcoming of not-unknowable obstacles toward a known goal". Happiness does not come from the end result or the goal that is attained. It comes from the things you have to do the attain the goal. The controlling of matter, energy, space & time, and other Life.

Short version

Life sucks, then you die.

There is no meaning to life. There is no purpose other then birth, live, then finaly die. What you do in the mean time is irrelavent and pointless as in the end it doesn't matter if you were good or bad, rich or poor, popular or shunned, dead is dead. Do what makes you happy and makes you feel what little time you have here has as much meaning as it can.

Ok there is no meaning of life, there are individual meanings for everyone's life. I believe that my meaning is to keep others around me happy, i've always handled losses the best and see the brightest things to come.

What is it that we all look for, that keeps us going. I dont do it to goto Heaven, or Hell, or be judged in Purgatory. I keep going because i think this is it, and when people say, "Man i hope this isnt it!" i just think, why the Fck would u do ANYTHING to make ur life suck that much. Everyone hates their job but come on, if its that bad, cut down on the premium channels!

Oh and if Heaven and Hell do exsist, I'll be the one burn Heaven and flooding Hell :)

Show me ur god and i'll show u mine :)

Ronald,

Why should that surprise you?! ;)

I do not know if I mentioned this on the board.
I had the marvelous opportunity to see Graham Chapman live in a small club. He did a little comedy and Q&A (He died three months later... very sad). He was close friends with Douglas Adams, the author of the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy (BTW, I have the MP3's of the radio show...). A drunken Douglas asked a even more inebriated Graham what was the meaning of life? Graham had been very depressed with all the problem in his life at the time the only thing he thought of was his 42nd birthday coming in a few days... He looked at Douglas and said, "Um, 42?!".
Douglas Adams found it so funny he included it as a centerpiece in his book...

Hum, the meaning of life, thats an easy one. http://www.bmts.com/~taunton/main/menu/cmt/specialhearts.htm
aint nothin else :)
BTW, thats my son and ignore the link at the bottom, gonna fix that one of these days.....lol

Sitting alone dark and silent
The rest of the house snug in bed
My pen making no sense or order
Of the words that race through my head
The papers lay crumpled beside me
Filled with words that didn't seem right
My thoughts they seem to betray me
As i sit in the still of the night...
The heat of the day rises slowly
As the clock on the wall counts the time
The sun casting shadows around me
As the hands count the hours on by
This day it is hardly upon me
The sun up above brightly shines
As i sit all alone in the shadows
Coffee in hand feeling fine...
A poet is someone who meddles with words
He twists them to meet his own needs
Makes something exciting seem really quite boring
Like a child who sits stringing beads
Puts one then another along in a line
Till something of beauty is formed
The words move along as if dancing together
As the work of the poet is born...

David, did I utter words or exclamations of surprise? :D To be honest, I didn't expect anyone else to know it, but it doesn't surprise me the least bit that YOU know it.

If I've learned one thing here on the boards, it's this: Never, and I mean never ever, presume that David doesn't know a certain thing. You'd get proven wrong more often than right :D hahaha

Seriously though, I think 42 is a sufficient answer, since the question is so unspecific. I love the whole hitchhiker's series, twisted humour combined with some deep thoughts.

And all of you, never forget to take your towel with you!
