Friends Cable problem not staying connected.

Post by Sava700 »

A friend of mine has the same ISP (Adelphia) and for some reason his net won't stay connected and keeps losing sync for a few mins and then come back. He says the net will sometimes lag on him and lose the sync. He's contacted Adelphia hasn't really told him anything other than normal support stuff to power cycle the modem and check the wiring from his house to pole which is new. He says its gotten somewhat better in the last few days but still doing it. I'm thinking its the signal and adelphia's problem cause I've walked him through anything to do with his side of the connection such as getting rid of any spyware or virus that may be on his comp which was very little in adaware and no viruses. His hook ups are good and modem has been replaced once already in the last few days to see if that may be it. Any suggestions?

Get Adelphia to check the signal levels or have them come up to check the line.

I think they did that already however I'll check... I had the same issue once before and it was something with the nod that was causing the problem.. just getting feedback :)
But yeah I'll check and reply back Thanks.

I have been having the same problem with Adelphia. When I do a ping -t, I will get 60 - 70 packets perfect and then drop 6-10 packets. That is a regular pattern. Adelphia has done all the checks at our location, so we are pretty sure it has something to do with them. I have been told that Adelphia will issue a new IP address randomly during your connection. So, I was wondering whether a static IP would solve the problem. Any thoughts, anybody??
