thx in advance. and if u know ne other tweaks that would help ma connection plz
pMTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits (scale factor of 6)
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 20556.8 kbps (2569.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8222.72 kbps (1027.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 55 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000

ost here...o yea im usin windows xp home

1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.

2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections -
LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.

3. ALWAYS connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.

4. Clear your temporary internet files.

5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.

6. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot 1.2 http://beam.to/spybotsd & Ad Aware 6.0 http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES.

7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in Read1st link.

8. If you have Zone Alarm as a firewall uninstall it then visit Zonelabs.com for further instructions on removing it's left over junk.

9. Install Outpost Firewall http://www.agnitum.com\ or Sygate Firewall http://www.sygate.com/ , both have FREE and Pro versions and are heads above ZA.

10. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one IMMEDIATELY, AVG 6.0 http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php is an excellent FREE AV app.

11. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates

I just spoke with dannjr the owner of the guide in xp the path iis different

The path is differant in win xp

@echo on

copy c:\winnt\System32\DRIVERS\tcpip.sys Z:\
copy c:\winnt\System32\DRIVERS\afd.sys Z:\

net start afd
net start tcpip
net start dhcp

ipconfig

@pause

heres what the path in Win xp would be

@echo on

copy c:\windows\System32\DRIVERS\tcpip.sys Z:\
copy c:\windows\System32\DRIVERS\afd.sys Z:\

net start afd
net start tcpip
net start dhcp

I give up on this...Ok i did what u told me and nope still givin me the same problem...cant specify filename directory or path...newayz this is wut i tried next...cuz im windows xp...for the Registry Value. I put\??\B:\tcpip.sys and \??\B:\afd.sys..My Ramdisk is B:\ so dont think thats the problem.....now for the script this wut i put

@echo on

Echo Starting TCP/IP Services

copy c:\windows\System32\DRIVERS\tcpip.sys B:\
copy c:\windows\System32\DRIVERS\afd.sys B:\

net start afd
net start tcpip
net start dhcp

@pause

and after i used these settings...the script ran and then it said something it seemed like it worked but i couldnt catch wut it said...then it just automatically reboots..and then everytime i boot up.. and the script runs and then it reboots automatically...this is with the settings i gave u not with the ones u gave me...and its c:\widnows cuz thats the directory for winxp..hope this makes sense...thank you

Wow, I followed the instructions that Mccoffee gave mkvdon since we had similar stats and it almost doubled my speed. It's incredible what tweaking does. this does to broadband connection what fine tuning does to a car.

Even though I'm just a silent observer, i would still like to thank McCoffee for the information he gave. Thanks. :thumb:

The registry has nothing to do with ping mtu is the only setting that effects ping mtu effects on ping is very little Ping is set out by the isp down the line to the routers then more lines to house depending on where the high ping is comming romming from you can not do anything about that.

Now with the ramdisk it's a trickey tweak to get done you have to follow the directions exectly also i know when i did it awhile ago i had an error in the registry while doing it like a space somewhere between z and the : or something real minor like that. You have to go slow with that tweak as much i hate to say it most of the errors with that tweak is user errors i'm including myself the first time i tried to set it up.

Mkvdon what was current speeds after the cablenut settings i gave you ??

Also try this test let me know if you see any other color then green then i could see where the high ping is comming from http://www.pcpitstop.com/internet/TracertLoad.asp

hey well thanks for the info man..um after the cablenut settings that u gave me i was getting around 356kb/s average or somethin...but i called in cox today and they said that on that day u gave me the settings they switches out the routers well they were workin on it...so that might have caused why it was slow...but still rite now i get around 760kbs to 1 mb. and i did the test it showed up all green except one of em was kind of dark green...and yea thats bout it
