It's not very old and can't perch on a stick. You can't keep them in a cage until they're older.

Because they're highly intelligent, beautiful, and they live up to 80 years.

I had a Blue and Gold Macaw I raised from a hatchling, he was beautiful. Quite an experience. :thumb:

very smart,,,yes!

but also, when a bird is "uncommon" that means there are less of them and harder to find, therefor the price goes up for that reason also.

Severe's are the smallest of the macaw family, no?
I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

Not sure if they're THE smallest, but if not they're pretty close.

We call them "mini macaws" and they're some funny birds. They all squawk at the same time and bob their heads. Very silly birds, cute as hell. We have 3 right now, just starting to perch.

Yes, the scarlet is still a baby, I think around 10 weeks or so. When birds come in at that age they stay in the brooder tank, where they're safe and can't hurt themselves or fall off anything, and where they can be under a heat lamp.

Once they're a bit older we move them out onto the plexiglass trays like these severes are in. They can waddle around in the walnut shell we use as a litter, and eventually leran to perch on the perches and the sides of the trays.

The scarlet is going for $1,599
Price is based not only on how common the bird is, but also how hard it is to find a breeding pair and how difficult that type of bird is to successfully raise.
