SP2 and IE delay
I upgraded my Windows XP to SP2.
And I noticed that in IE there is now allways a 3-5 sec delay before it starts downloading the webpage... When I use Mozilla I don't have any delays.
I use Trend Micro Internet Security. Windows Firewall is disabled.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help I get.

startup
it does happened all the time.
As soon as you select a new website... it sits and thinks for a litle while before it starts any activity on the cable modem. Like its trying to translate the address first. With mozilla as soon as I enter he webpage, there is activity on the modem and the pages load immediately.

manual tcp/ip
I have tried to use manual TCP/IP settings, disabling Qos Packet scheduler ..
No changes with the delay in IE... I have a afeeling it is some setting in IE that is causing it.. I have checked some other boards too, but no one has a solution for this yet.

IE Delay
There is a limit of 10 connections per second in SP2. There is a patch that should increase it to whatever you want. I have a slipstreamed SP2 CD that I installed on my spare machine to see how it would work before putting it on the main computers. The patch took care of the slow page loading for me. Go to the following site to get the patch and be sure to read the forum on how to use it. There is a lot of useful information there. Hope this will help you out.

SP2 IE Delay
Link works fine. Just opened it 5 times to make sure. I can e-mail you the patch with instructions if you like. Just post back to let me know.

It won't open for me. If you don't mind emailing it please send it to spdingtkts@yahoo.com.

Check your mail Kevin. Sent it this morning.

Installing SP2 didn't reset MaxConnections. If I read everything correctly it is the way tcpip.sys handles open connections. By default, tcpip.sys in SP2 allows only 10 concurrent open connections. It is a security measure to help stop the spread of trojans and worms.
I'm not sure about the reg entry being useless though. If you installed the patch mentioned above or got the hotfix mentioned in the Microsoft KB 884020 article the entry should be valid.

hmmm
I had same problem - IE would hang for some time loading a new site whilst 'Detect[ing] proxy settings'
I have unchecked 'automatically detect settings' in Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Settings and the delay has gone.
Dunno what knock-on effects this might have but it cured the problem for me...
