Opinions on Printers?
Ok My printer died and Im looking at buying a new one. Price is not really the concern ( within reason like under 1000) . I want a reliable one that will print great pics and text as well.
I was looking at lasers but they say they dont print pics as well?
I have also been hearing good things about the cannon I960
I thought about 2 printers , one laser for text and one for pics but I really dont have the room for 2.
What printers do you all use for both pics and text?

I use 2 long usb cords for my laser printer because I didnt have room either. Simply connect them via a usb hub.
I'd really suggest using 2 printers, which is what I do if you can swing it.
I really like HP printers. You can buy a VERY nice HP printer for under $200 and a laser printer (minolta) for around $100 (after rebates). Many HP printers use the same ink cartridges. What this usually means is that there are several models that print the same, but have extra features. My HP932 uses the same ink that several MUCH higher priced printers use and cost up to $200 MORE then my model costs. They print the exact same quality though.
my point is that you shouldn't have to spent more then $100-$140 for your printer. When you buy it, purchase the extra (large) ink at the same time because all they include is a starter cartridge.

I've got the konica minolta printer, page pro 1350, it's awesome for the price. (i didnt have to wait for any rebates either, got it for like 110 out the door at office max)I've printed out several hundred flyers for my friends band, plus lots of papers for school and whatnot, and the starter cartridge is still going strong, plus everything looks fantastic, nice and crisp.zooner wrote:I use 2 long usb cords for my laser printer because I didnt have room either. color laser printers on the other hand, you'd have to spend at least 1000 to get a good quality one for doing pictures. i'm with zooner, just get a good HP that's got the same quality as a higher priced model.

I don't print photos but I have the HP7110 all in one and can reassure you of it's quality and ease of use.

I also vouch for HP.. They're are simply the best all around. In my retail days I would see 12 other brand name printers being returned to their vendor to every 1 or 2 HP's. Customers simply didn't have as many issues with them. Lexmarks were probably the most often returned and when I do housecalls and people own them, I just tell them to buy a new one b/c they are so cheap..
Occassionally there are not-so-great models released from HP and aside from a few of the PSC series, I hate the Color Laserjet 1500L.. its been giving me issues since day one here at the office. Every single other HP printer I have dealt with has been wonderful..
The 694C that I owned back in '96 is still running flawlessly at my grandma's house.
The 812C that I used to own, sat in storage for 3 years and I just sold it to a friend for $15 and it still works like a champ.. In fact, the cartridges were left in the printer the entire time it was in storage and the sucker printed photos just fine for almost a week..
I'm now on a 990Cse and once again, its a nice printer, never gives me trouble and prints beautiful pictures even though its an older model now.
