Hello
Hello
Just popped in to say hi to everyone. Doing ok I suppose. Of course the usual realtionship crap but healthwise ok. My cd4 (tcells) count has gone up from 473 to 664 which is very good and my viral load is non detectable. I was very sick a couple of months ago because the meds I was on made me severly anemic. The hemoglobin level in my blood was down to 4 when it should have been at 14. I had no energy whatsoever and could not even walk up two stairs without having to stop and huff and puff. SO the docs gave me four pints of red blood cells over two transfusions in about a week and a half. Hemoglobin is where it should be now (14.8) and feeling a whole lot better and on new meds. I take about 8 pills a day now. Three for the HIV and 3 for the anxiety and 1 for depression/mood swings, plus one vitamin. So I guess I'll live a little bit longer LOL. Anyways, take care everyone and I'll stop in again soon.

I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

I was feeling like death for nearly three weeks. I even went to work the whole time I was like that. I knew something was wrong but everytime I called to talk to the doc and explain what I was feeling like they said it was the meds. Then when I finally got in to see her, the second I walked into the waiting room, the nurses and the receptionist knew something was wrong right away. They said as soon as they saw me they knew it was anemia. My blood was thin as water and I was pale and looked very sickly. Pissed me off to cause I called to try to get in like three times. And when I saw my doc her exact words were "oops, guess I should have seen you sooner". They did a hemoglobin test and the nurse actualy said OMG and SH*T.
So then they immediatly they ordered a blood transfusion. After that my hemoglobin only went up to 8, then my doc wasnt sure what to do so she called the lead HIV doc here in town and I had to go see him. They WERE going to put me on the Procrit shots but the HIV doc wanted to try another blood transfusion first. Plus I was complaining about having to give myself shots three times a week. The seconf blood transfusion did the trick
Yeah I am doing much better now David. The AZT in the combivir is what caused the anemia. SO, Now I am on Sustiva, Epivir, and Viread. Plus Buspar for the anxiety and Wellbutrin for the depression and mood swings.nepenthe wrote:Mike,
