Help.... system hang when trying to save as....

Help.... system hang when trying to save as....

Hi all....

I was trying to save some word document and when i click save as and pool down the address bar to save in, my system hanged.......

I have tried reintstalling office and Internet explorer.... none helped.... any other suggestion or solutions??? :cry:

Do you have a CD in any drive? if the cd is scratched or dirty explorer will hang when polling it for info such as opening 'my computer' or using a file drop down in the save as dialogf

Thks for responding..... But there was no cd in any drive.......

floppy drive as well.. I would might try windows repair, from command prompt.. sfc /scannow for all sys files or sfc Filename.EXE (ie EXPLORE.EXE)

Start, run, then type in SFC /scannow
SFC is the system file checker, SFC /? to see all the commands.
SFC /scannow will scan all you windows system files and look for missing or damaged files. When it finds one it will replace it with a good copy from your windows CD.
If that doesn't work then boot from your windows CD and do a repair. Don't take the first repair option, that will lead you to the recovery console. Follow the install menu along like you are going to install windows. You will end up a screen that says a previous install of windows has been detected. One of the options will be to repair it.
