Post by tryn1 »

I'm looking to off my Mcafee firewall and virusscan; and go to a better one, that wont effect my speeds. I tried your links but both are dead. Do you have a current link or can you name the best firewalls and virusscans; both free and non? I know this proably dont belong here but I know its been brought up before.

Thanks for your time.....

Install Outpost Firewall http://www.agnitum.com Out post or Sygate Firewall http://www.sygate.com/ both have FREE and Pro versions and are heads above ZA.

10. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one IMMEDIATELY, AVG 6.0 http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php is an excellent FREE AV app.

All have free and pro versions if you are thinking about shelling out the bucks

Mr. Coffee, AVG anti virus is great as you say but the firewall with SP2 RC1 does not recognize this software. Can not say if final verson of SP2 will.

I wouldn't use xp's firewall the protection is not as good as such sygate or outpost or any other 3rd party software.

Xp's it will give basic portection but i would highly suggest a hardware router and or a 3 party software or both combined with a for the best the software and the hardware can be trickey to setup .
