You've been hit by MSBlast. You need to do a Windows Update and virus scan

Theres nearly a dozen viruses out there which utilize the

I just came across 2 computers in the past 2 weeks with "W32.HLLW.Gaobot ".

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/av ... .tool.html

It's "RPC" service.

As you notice, you don't have long to work on it until it reboots. You must install the DCOM RPC update first.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/securi ... 3-026.mspx

Download it quickly and install it. You will have time, unless on dial up, in which case download on removable media like a zip disk or USB thumb drive or burnt cd or whatever...and install it.

Thoroughly clean computer

Run all windows updates

Get a firewall.

Thank you for the links, I just changed internet providers and had to install the dsl software to get my router settings. So I was not behind my firewall

Worked like a charm thanks again :)

The router will support PPPoE for you, don't install their bloated software package. Can set it up behind safely behind the router over and over. Don't plug in directly.
