My youth group has a 9700 Pro in their nice machine, it's not too shabby. I was playing with 3dmark2001se on it, and it did pretty darn good. I could check into it better on Saturday, like, scores and whats not.

The 9700 was the predecessor to the 9600 and 9800 it will out perform the 9600 and it up there with the 9800, just a little slower I belive. Here's a comparison between the 9700 and 9800 from our friends at hardOCP

i see tons of 9600 and 9800 but the 9700 is hard to find ?
any reason ?
it's from the last generation and was fully replaced by the 9800. The 9500 was replaced by the 9600 for the mid-priced market.
they can be found used, but you shouldnt find any new. You can purchased a 9800pro for under $200 now if you look around.

Got mine 9500pro in time where 9500pro and 9700pro were in the market!!!
I saw PowerColor selling a Radeon 9700Pro 128MB RT but a little more than 100 U$D.
btw: the €/$ ratio is really bad ... not for me just for you thats why I can´t get a "real" price it is not like a year ago ~1:1
I got with NV 5900XT ... like in the old times TI4200 oc it and have fun!

PS: I got nearly some speeds with my 9500pro like a non oc´ed 9800pro in a little slower comp.!!!
  *nice*
