Newbie to overclocking

Post by Firestorm ZERO »

Well, I never overclocked my computer. Mainly because I never saw a need to but now I like to try it out.

My computer specs are...
Pentium4B 2.26 GHz
ASUS P4B533 motherboard
Enermax 300W power supply
Generic 512 MB of memory

Temps right now are around 35 C. Dunno if I would need more cooling.

Any step or precautions to take? If someone can give a link to some guide/tutorial to overclocking, that would help me out :)

Basically you just lock your AGP/PCI frequency, then bump your FSB by 5 points every boot until it is unstable, or until you are happy with how fast you are going.

Good RAM will give you a better OC
Asus p4p800 Deluxe Mobo - Pentium 4 3.2 @ 3.6 - Thermaltake Spark7 HSF - Geil Golden Dragon PC3200 - ATI Radeon x850 XT PE 256mb - Maxtor 120 GB 8mb cache - Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 - Altec Lansing 5.1 Sattelites w/sub - Cooler Master Cavalier 3 case

Your psu might be a factor. 300watts wont keep up with a good oc.
