Favourite actor?

Post by vinnie »

I was deliberating over this the other day when I realised there wasn't a single female actor I particulary liked. I'd never really thought about who I liked as an actor until I realised I was looking for Pacino movies...

So, after much deliberation, I've boiled it down to the following list:
Al Pacino
Robert De Niro (pre-comedy days)
Tommy Lee Jones
Morgan Freeman

I think that more or less covers it. Females.. the only one I don't have any negative thoughts about would be Audrey Hepburn I suppose... but that's kinda adopted from the partner ;)

So... who do other people like as actors?

Sean Penn and Ed Norton have done some pretty damn good stuff lately.
When they kick at your front door, how you gonna come? With your hands at your head, or the trigger of your gun?

I like Ed Norton. I think he's done good things and he'll do better things in the future.

Sean Penn wasn't the best ever I don't think in Carlito's Way, which was the last film he was in I've seen I think... don't remember him in much else though o.O

You've missed a lot...Dead Man Walking, U-Turn, She's So Lovely, The Weight of Water, Mystic River and 21 Grams are all very good to excellent.

And the part in Carlito's Way was spot on if you've ever been around a coke user.

Add: Samuel L. Jackson

He's awesome!

Don't forget Sean Penn in The Falcon and the Snowman. Awesome movie! I think Sean, in spite of his weirdness and political views is one of the most underrated actors alive, along with Sammy J, named above. I doubt Sean will ever get the recognition he deserves.

Because of his outspoken views one must think. This I feel is holding him back. He's an outstanding actor IMO>

The Academy are a feisty bunch of conservative old farts. But, they can surprise us from time to time. I predict that Sean remains seated as the Best Actor winner is announced.

Personally, I hope my prediction is 100% wrong. I'm rooting for him, but the competition, as usual, is pretty tough. He's not a shoe-in, that's for sure.
