System Upgrade?

Post by Chacotako »

posting for a friend

he's NOT ocing

Ok its time to update, right now on a Amd 800mhz t-bird and i'm a big gamer =/
anyways i have just over 2 grand to spend and looking for the best thing out there right now for gaming

Processor: Amd 64 3400+ or Intel ( i know the prescott is supposed to come out soon)

Motherboard: Depends on which cpu i go with obviously

Vid Card: Ati xt?

Ram: looking for at least a gig maybe 2, depends on what kind of deal i can get

HD: 36gb 10,000 rpm (already set in stone)

So basically i'm asking you guys what would be the best deal, if you wouldn't mind please give me the configuration you believe would be the best for the price and why i already have a soundcard and a pretty nice case

Right now i'm leaning towards

Amd 64 3400+
(Need a good mobo, thats where u come in )
Ati Radeon 9800 xt
(hopefully a good deal on 2 gigs, thats where u come in again )
and
36gb 10,000 rpm HD (i have a slave for extra storage)

thank you for your time

Corsair ram has been good to me.
Nice video card.
I am an Intel guy, so I cannot help you with the motherboard. I run an Asus P4P800 deluxe for intel processors.

Do you need to buy a monitor?
If not 2 grand is plenty to buy a kick ass system
