bad luck

Post by GSXR1000 »

I just built my new system...finally got the power supply i was waiting for. Antec trueblue 480. Last night everything just shuts down. Now power supply is dead. I can hook up my old one and get power....but my computer doesnt go past the asus screen when i boot it up. Tried clearing the cmos a few times...nothing. Anyone have any similar problems? Did the power supply take the motherboard with it? All of this stuff is about 2 weeks old. I really cant afford to buy all new stuff again. Specs are...A7N8X-E deluxe, 2500+, 512 Corsair xms 3200 pro, ati 9600, WD 200 gig

Did you make sure nothing was shorting out when you put everything back together?? Try taking it ALL apart, making sure there is no metal/metal contact. This could fry a motherboard.

Not insulting your intelligence, but did you check the switch on the back? Making sure its at the right voltage?

everything had been working fine for about a week. Thats how long ive had the parts. I dont know if we had a power surge in the house or what. I guess my roomates computer had rebooted in the middle of the night and his clock was flashing. I had everything hooked to a power strip..everything else hooked into it works fine.

Sorry to hear that man... I'm not quite sure what your problem is though.

where did you buy it from? That might be covered as a defective part. Taking into consideration that you were running a power protector, I'd be quicker to lean that way.

I'm running a true430 myself. There's nothing it wont handle.

The motherboard, proc, and memory came from newegg. The power supply came from dealsonic. I tried ordering it from new egg...but they sent me the wrong one twice. I got everything to work!! I unhooked all the ide cables and power to everything but the motherboard and it let me go into the bios. Then i hooked it all back up and got into windows just fine. I feel a lot better now. Thanks for your help guys!!
