the only differences I can see off hand...
are..
the 9600XT has a higher refresh rate @ max res.
and the 9600XT has a higher clock speed (GPU)
400 vs 500
is that it?..

the 9600pro does fantastic at lower resolutions.
if you can get your hands on a 9800np, go that route. I've used both and the 9800np is an amazing value. They dont make them anymore, but I have heard they popup on newegg once in a while.
The sapphire are best and can usually be modded into a 9800pro with relative ease. They cost about 250 and are worth every penny.
the difference?
With most games you can play 1024x768 with all features maxed on the 9600pro. With the 9800, you can play 1600x1200 with all features maxed. Makes a real nice difference in quality.

Radclocker is the best route to take. Rage 3D has too much baggage. I've been using the recent Omega drivers which come with Radclocker and a few other goodies.

Nope. Its a very basic program. Although like zooner said it is shareware. There is no "Trail version" either. I would just like to call it free.

I recently picked up 2 9600's and they are stamped differently. On is V38 the other is V52. Is there a difference between the 2? I have some pics but no way to post them.

There's been some talk about certain stepping chips OC'ing better on these but nothing concrete. People have had identicaly marked GPU's achieve very different clocks.
