Hello everyone,
I am not able to reach my cap on one my computers. Here is the config:
1) ISP: Videotron montreal
2) CAPS: 4Mbits/640Kbps
3) Wireless router connected to the modem, my computer has a wireless usb.
4) I have windows XP
5) Used Adware and Spyware ( I am clean, woohoo !!!)
6) I notice that If I download from internet explorer I can sometime reach my cap, however it's really slow by FTP (any FTP).
Thanks for any input guys.
TCP Analyser:
TCP options string = 020405b401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 49640
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 49640
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1985.6 kbps (248.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 794.24 kbps (99.28 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 51 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 01011100
Precedence (priority) = 100 (flash override)
Delay = 1 (low delay)
Throughput = 1 (high throughput)
Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)
Cost = 1 (low cost)
Need some advice from the gods ;)

Thanks for the settings mccoffee.
I tried them but it didn't improve my download speed, I am still at 170kbps.
Do you think there is a special tweak for wireless connections ? My computer that is connect by an rj45 cable can reach the cap, but not the wireless. I am not too far from the router and even If I put the two computers near each other there is no difference.
Any help ?
Thanks.

Thanks a lot
mnosteele52 and mccoffee !
Your new cablenut settings mnosteele52 increased my speed from 170K/s to 270K/S. Is there a way to increase it a little more to reach my cap of 512 ? or is this the limit of my 802.11b wireless adapter.
mccoffee, can you tell me why accepting wan ping can improve the speed ?
Thanks guys, I knew I would find answers here
