Post by glears »

Is it possible to connect two computers together like a Direct Parallel but us a USB male to male end. If so, how? What do I need and where would I get it?

Jack, I seen the site and saw something that's making me nervous. It said "Important, do not connect two pc's using a uSB cable directly without that device or you may fry 1 or 2 motherboards." I've already done that and haven't noticed any problems. Is that statement true or inacurate.

May be you are lucky.

Just make sure that the USB is still working on each computer.

One pin of the USB is +5V this +5V is looping back to the power supply.

When you connect the USB ports of two independent computers through regular Male to Male cable you connect two 5V sources that loop to two independent Power supplies, if the potential difference is very small it might take longer to burn something in the motherboard. You were lucky do not continue with this practice.

Mean time I found a cheaper solution than the Transfer cable mentioned in EZLAN.NET page.

Here: GOLDX USB DATA LINK NETWORK CABLE, 5FT, GXUSB320 .

You know, the cable I bought was in a box labelled "USB TO USB CABLE". Then below that it had two pc's with the cable going from one to the other and the words "computer to computer". I guess if this would have fried my motherboard, I would be able to sue that company for misleading me and causing damage for false information. Thanks anyow. I will look into maybe bying that other cable.

It also said at the back of the box "Connect quickly and sfely two computers together".
