BN: Bob Hope Dead At 100
BN: Bob Hope Dead At 100
She's presenting like a mandrill!
What a life!!
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

Great Man! Sad to see him leave us.
Get ready for all the tv specials. Wasn't his network of choice NBC? Cant remember.....
Yeah, most of the specials he did later in life were on NBC.
His most valuable contribution in his life was his work with the USO. Thousands upon thousands of military men and women got much needed boosts in moral whenever he played a uso show for them.

From CNN:
In 1997, Congress named Hope an honorary U.S. veteran, citing his decades of entertaining troops around the world. He is the only person to receive that distinction.
When informed of the honor, Hope was uncharacteristically serious. "I've been given many awards in my lifetime," he said, "but to be numbered among the men and women I admire the most is the greatest honor I have ever received."

Hi 64bit
What a Wonderful Life he had.
His Contribution to the Armed Forces moral over the decades should not be underestimated imho.
He brought great joy & laughter during very trying times and at considerable risk to Himself & those who joined him on His Tours.
He i think should not be so much Mourned for His passing, but rather Celebrated for His Life and His Gift to us all.
Thanks & Well Done Mr. Hope.
regards

His one-liners were the best...
"I bumped into Gerald Ford the other day. I said, `Pardon me.' He said, `I don't do that anymore."'

Was listening to ESPN radio today and they mentioned a few bits of information about his last movie he was in 'Spies Like Us'. His cameo was when he went into the tent where Chevy and Dan were pretending to be doctors and all of a sudden Bob Hope appears looking for his golf ball and says "Mind if I play through."
One other thing mentioned when he used to introduce the all american football team each year on his christmas special and he introduced William 'the refrigerator' Perry and said "I thought we were bringing them out one at a time"
Just one of many many many stories you can hear about Mr. Hope.

Hard prediction to make. He was 100 and in failing health...I knew that he'd die this year too, but I'm no psychic

Take care on the other side, Mr. Hope
I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

The only person to be named an honorary veteran, now that says something about the man.
The guy saw more wars than anyone else alive, and served admirably in all of them from what I hear from the old timers around here. One of my co-workers caught one of his shows in Vietnam. Not near the rear as you might expect, but up closer to the front lines with artillery going off in the background.
Back on the attack!
