Seems that the VIA Envy chip is making it's rounds. This one seems to get better framerates than the M-Audio card...same price as well. $99

Humm...no mention of DVD-A playback..
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. If you can rip it...doesn't that mean you can play it?

Yeah I found that interesting...my guess is they are talking about DTS and Dolby Digital.....
Maybe, maybe not...in players, the digital stream is disabled for most DVD-A titles.....Maybe this is different. I'll have to keep my eyes open on the various forums that specialize in this kind of thing..

From what I've read, you can rip the DVD tracks separately and import them to an editing program like CoolEdit.
That in itself is enticing. Can you imagine the possibilities to tweak a certain track and then remix to your liking?
The big thing with this Directwire feature is that it bypasses ALL copy protection schemes. This means that this hardware will come under fire from the RIAA sooner or later.

They are using new drivers now.
