Linksys problems

Post by Grimson »

It's a befsr41 router and it loses connection every so often, when it does it all I do is unplug it for a little while and then plug it back in and it's all good for a little while.

Any thoughts as to how to fix it or why it's doing it ??

TIA

I have a BEFSX41 router from Linksys and am not having problems with it, and when I called them, after a few minutes of being on hold, as I needed techsupport on my Linksys BEFCMU10 cable modem, while I was checking my settings, they disconnected me.

I wouldn't even bother calling Linksys for techsupport, it is poor and if they tell you to check settings, during that time they will disconnect you, as they don't want to face facts that there could be something wrong with the product.

Have you tried tried updating the firmware yet.

It may not be the router.

You may not have to unplug it at all.

Try creating a "favorite" link to your router's "Status" page.

e.g.

http://192.168.1.1/Status.htm

The next time you appear to lose the connection, just go to the link and click on "Disconnect" and when it shows it's disconnected, click on "Connect."

My first suggestion is making sure your firmware is up to date. Also, what type of broadband connection do you have?

It's my step fathers router, he works from home so I didn't want to mess with it until I could get all the info and the way it's setup wrote down.

YOSC- It's comcast cable.

If I go to the Linksys website and d/l the firmware is it fairly simple to do ?? It does reset all settings right ??

thanks again.
