Hi All,

I hope someone can help me with this.

You know those lil "Key Code stickers" they put on games? Well if I have the game installed in my computer is there anywhere on my computer that I could see that code?

See we have 2 computers and had to reformat the other one and went to install the game "diablo 2" and the darn key code sticker is gone so now I cant get it on that computer. unless I have the key code.

So if anyone knows if I can find the code anywhere in my computer files please help!!!

hey Pammy, try this....

Start-Run-regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER

SOFTWARE

look for the name of the company that makes that game or look for Diablo2

open that file and look for Key

for Half life it was in the settings folder

look in the registry maybe, i found my bf1942 key just now under hkey_local_machine/software/whatever, just look around. go to run type in regedit, just don't make any changes.

OK found diablo 2, opened that, there is no setting one, but there are about 12 different itmes there, but when i click one any of them if dont show anything, only shows a lil box that has the path to them, but really dont open any of them up? Any more suggestions?

hit the print screen button, and then open paint and hit control+v, or paste.

save it as a jpg. then upload it to your web host, copy the address of the web page it is on, and then use the image tags in your response.

this is what the only game i have installed right now looks like for the cd key, just look around for something similar, i wouldn't change anything in there unless you know what you are doing.

what you can do is 'Export' the registry entry for diablo by selecting it in regedit then clicking on file>export and saving it to your desktop. Then you can open it with notepad and find your cd key by scrolling through the file.

ps. you can also use this method to change your key.

check your pm's.

Nope nothing, when i open regedit up the only numbers in the data column are 0's and under default it says "value not set"

and I cant find a key generator thing online anywhere....guess I might have to break down and send my jewell case to the company with $10.00 for a new one, really didnt want to cuz I know that damn code is on this computer somewhere!!!!

Any more suggestions?

Use the Find Menu in regedit and do a complete search fro Diablo and any and all other relevant names related to that software. But chances are it's a 'hidden key' eg disguised or encrypted.

If both operatings systems are the same, you could try exporting all related keys (top level folder for the game) and then merge those reg files on other computer.

Yep it must be hidden, I will try the export thing tomorrow.....we are networked together so should I just try sending the whole diable file to other puter or just a certain file out of the game?

The game is installed on the other puter just not able to play, so should I also delete the game from the other puter first? or just keep it installed and export?

On the other computer, rt click the exported registry files and choos "merge". Worst case scenarion is will have to reinstall the app on computer again.

don't bother trying. for Diablo2, the keycode is stored inside the mpq files (the huge files) and they can't be crack. but there is a cdkey catcher program on the D2 hacksite. what it mean is when you connect to the battlenet, the cdkey will be send to them so they can verify if you legit buyer or not. that program will intercept the communication and capture the cdkey. try cheatlist.com, diabloworld.com.
