What objects were you beaten with as a kid

Post by fanta »

Hey guys thought of a wierd topic but interesting one to bring up.
What kinda "switches" or anything in general did your parents/guardians beat you with when you were younger if any at all?
I'm pretty sure a lot of you older guys and gals had it a lot worse than us young guys.
Man I've heard horror stories!!!
As for myself I never was disiplined to the point of blood (but damn near it might I add)
I was "disiplined" with leather bealts, shoes, flip-flops (hehe...local style)
A lot of locals used bamboo sticks as switches for their kids...ouch

Well, the weirdest part is umm.. we had to srtip naked.. *LOL* (j/k) :D

I was delt with accordingly. I was a perfect child so I was not disciplined. hahaha :D

I have nothing but respect for how I was disciplined as a child... I got help when I needed it and got nothing when I needed to help myself. But most of the time we got the good ol raw hide!! LOL

Oh yah, We all had to stand in line ( 5 of us, all boys! ) and my dad did the larry, moe and curly on us... The one hand slap all the way across 5 faces . We were such crazy ass kids! hahaha

yeah, I was treated real well as a child too.

I remember one time though, my dad had told me that if I did something (can't remember what) he would spank we with a ping-pong paddle. I can remember thinking about it, and realizing that we didn't have any ping pong paddles, so I went ahead and did it.

My dad outsmarted me. He knew I had one of those toys that's a paddle with a bouncy ball attached by an elastic cord. He pulled that freakin' cord off and gave me a few wacks!

oh boy fanta

bad memories there. my dad, well lets say he enjoyed me getting in trouble.

razor strop, leather belt, like Ken i had to go cut a switch, and bring it back, wet towel

but most of all his hands, then fists. not at all pleasant. i then got a very nasty side to me.

the poor kid, or guy, who got me pissed, never had a chance, it would all come out of me.

i got big, my dad found out it was not pleasant either one day, and that was the end of that..

bad times with my dad, he had a real mean streak in him.

well days past.

My parents beat me with the belt or hand and my grandmother used a slipper, hand or clothes hanger but she rarely hit me cuase I was always able to out run her. :D I remeber when I was in middle school I had a friend who's parents would turn on the air conditioner and stereo to muffle the sound while they beat him and his brother naked. :(

yea, i had a friend to get beat naked! scared the **** out of me  , it was the people who watched me as a kid when my dad was out of town. needless to say when the ol' man found out they did that in front of me  he was pissed! one thing though, i think beatings are bad, but the belt whipping made me know right from wrong. for example, these days all kids think about is shotting each other :( , when i was a kid we just went outside and would fight (just fist) and that would be the end of it. the next day we would be friends again. anyway imo, i think parents are to easy on kids these days....

My very nice Uncle took a old Rowing boat oar and cut the handle down to a good swinging size. Then drilled two holes in the paddle part (lessen air resistence). Painted it black with a red stripe down the middle. When that thing hit you knew it.

Been there. Extension cords and metal coat-hangers. Fists & kicks as well.

Was beat e/day from 4yrs old to 14yrs. Beat unconsious about twice a week.

Sixth grade teacher saw me bleeding thru shirt one day. Next thing I knew I was in Principal's office with Uniforms & suits asking me questions. Didn't see home for 25mos. Was put in juvenile home for own protection.

Came out at 14, Step-father started-up after about 6 mos. Left home just b4 15yrs old...Never went back.

During every beating I got, the ONLY thing I would think is; "I will Never do this to my kids".

Had 5 kids, Never hit one of them. They all turned-out just fine.

LOL! When my Dad would walk into the area where we were causing trouble and he would start to unhook his belt buckle, we would scatter quickly in all directions at once. All he had to do was reach for that belt buckle & our hearts would skip a beat.

Mom had a wooden paddle. Every time she disciplined us she would write our name on the paddle. My kids recently discovered the paggle at grandmas's house. They said, "hey Daddy, how com your name is on the paddle the most?"

Teachers - when I went to school teachers could do almost anything that they wanted to get a student in line. The principal in grammer school had a huge paddle. I never experienced that one cause she & my parents had an agreement. They agreed that my Dad could hit harder so she let my Dad do the smackin!

Jr High school - all of thye male teachers had custom paddles made by the woodshop teacher. These were some fancy discipline tools! My 8thy grade history teacher had one about 4 feet long & 8 inches wide, with holes drilled in it for fasterswings to the butt by him. Once, a friend tossed it out the 4th floor window & it withstood the fall. (made out of hickory) My friend didn't withstand that paddle too well though! That one stung. It would leave round welts on your butt from the holes.

Mech drawing teacher was about 70 yrs old when I had his class. He would let you get away with anything, it seemed. Then when you were doing your work he would sneak up on you and whack your knuckles w/ a 3 sided ruler. He drew blood on me more than once!

Here's a small list that Dad & Mom used for whippins -
belts
ropes
elec wires
paddles
ping pong paddles
wooden spoons (they usually broke in the process!)

Needless to say these threats helped my athletic careers. I quickly became a faster runner than my folks and learned how to dodge & cut!

None. Basically not even hands. Only a very light slap every now and then, but rarely happened. My parents never believed in punishment, but rather rewarding good behavior. Typical '68er, hehe.

Ah wait till your father gets home. Those few words are what I feared most growing up. Weapons of choice were belt and foot. The phrase Dont make me put my foot in your ass has a real meaning in my house :D The funny hting is now that were all grown up and my parents now have grandkids they feel guilty about all that **** but I never really give it a second thought. Thats the way they were brought up thats how they brought me up, no abuse no big deal!!

Damn what a morbid thread...
My parents seem to have taken it easy on me considering the stories the rest of you have. Belt a few times, also an old wooden hairbrush that, if turned over, was like a damn cricket bat.
I think they eventually realized that it hurt both of us more then they realized, and unless I was stupid enough to pick a fight with my father then the whuppings stopped.

My dad made me go into the closet in the parents bedroom, and I would have to turn around and drop my pants and he'd hit me 2 or 3 times with his belt, and BOY did it hurt! No blood ever though, he wasn't mean! I don't have any marks and never got any brusises, he knew just how to make it so it hurt, but wasn't damaging, so it would tech me a lesson, and boy did they ever!

After a while as I got older he let me leave my Jeans on and he'd whack me in their bedroom with my jeans on, it didn't hurt as bad then, hehe, but i acted like it did so he wouldn't do it as hard, haha :D

Anyways, I love my dad, he diciplined me proper and he's the best, i love my dad a lot :)

You don't need to hit your kid in order to discipline them, but sometimes theres just no way around it and the kid gotta get smacked. Hitting to discipline is one thing, hitting to abuse is a whole nother story.

Yeah true.
Interesting replies.
Minir, Keeper and others who have bad memories, sorry to bring any bad memories back.
Most of us were disiplined in non-harmful ways, but of course there are always going to be the abusive type.
Sorry guys.
On a different note though, what do you guys think of the generation of kids growing up nowadays?
Do you guys prefer old-fashioned disipline? (spankings and slaps at least) or do you think kids should be disiplined in different ways?

I remember when I was a kid, I had a neighbor across the street(can't think of his name), his Mom was chasing him out of the house beating him over the head with her "Dildo". It is still one of the funniest things that I have ever seen.

I sometimes wonder what ever became of him...

Some of the people in this world NEED to be smacked, and the problem is they weren't diciplined in the home and brought up right.

I think swatting for Dicipline is 100% OK, "Spare the rod and spoil the child" right?

But hitting to abuse = BAD

There IS a difference, and I hate all these liberals or whoever saying that Swatting for Dicipline is bad, they are just seeing it from an abuse side, which it's not. There is a difference, people need to realize this.

I haven't/won't ever hit my child in anger. It's just not an option.

my mom would use either a flyswatter (they sting, dude) or a wooden cooking spoon.

my dad (bless his heart), preferred his bare hand. i can remember one occasion where the results freaked out my teacher.

aaaahhh..... its those touching moments in life the really hit you right *here*

Wow, it's really a bummer to see the abuse some of you have lived with. I got wacked with the belt a few times, but not often or a lot at one time. Once was for setting a really big fire, my dad was pissed about that.
