Nmap is the port scanning tool the pros use: https://nmap.org/ It's free and extremely powerful. Careful you don't get yourself in trouble by knocking on the wrong doors though...

The bad news is, it's likely your only other internet provider in Denver [link removed by admin] is going to be Comcast - and their reputation for customer service is unfortunately worse than CenturyLink's even... Let me know if you found any other alternatives though.

You might be interested to know that Comcast is being sued for doing very similar things to other customers. Don't know if you're in one of the seven states listed, but you might want to look into it...
