For some reason I can't get a TCP/IP analyzer test result? Is the site down, or is my connection really screwed up?? I used to upload at 35-40 kbps at one ftp site, and then yesterday, it dropped to 10 kbps, and then ...0?? Does anyone know what's going on, does the new worm have anything to do with ...

Qwijib0, I can't reinstall Windows ME. My computer is now running in 16 bit color depth with the lowest resolution. I tried to reinstall it, and a minimum of 256 color is required. I guess I can install in in DOS, but I am not familiar with that :(
MartianGod, I tried system restore, but it won't ...
The labor day weekend was horrible, my puter is dead, and I don't know where to find help. I figure this forum's got a bunch of nice people, so I'll just post it see if I can find anything.

So, allocating memory to NIC will increase the connection speed, for some. How much memory can I allocate to NIC. Would that affect any other applications? Does anyone have any guide on how to allocate memory to NIC on Win. ME? Thanks
I think the system is a box, everything is linear, isn't it? ;) There should be an equation to pinpoint an optimum RWIN value that will give you the optimum performance. May be I just think like a box....... :D
Does anyone know if there are any other parameters for RWIN beside bandwidth & RTT ...
That's the first compliment I heard about Win ME :D Why wouldn't Win 2000 handle multimedia and gaming stuff better than Win ME  The last week, my Win. ME has been doing spontaneous restart every one/two hours. Couldn't get a complete download, and got kicked back to the end of the queue ...
$49/month for only 768kbps, mg, that's a total ripped ooff
I pay $40/month for Road runner, for about 2Mbps/350kbps, and I still think it's pretty damn slow. U definitely need to tweak, talk to Lobo in Tweaking forum.
that's why it's a good idea to test the speed first before tweaking, so u know if the performance has been increased after the changing the setting.
I didn't know what I was trying to achieve, even though I tried all the RWIN values, I wouldn't know which one is good or bad,... or may be I'm just ...
Recently, she hasn't been acting properly. One a bad day, she would automatically restarts every 5 minutes. Sometimes, she would restart, do a scan disk (not properly shut down), and before the scan disk is done, she reboots again :( . She's getting really sick. I think I stress her out too ...
RWIN is the TCP Received windows. It determines how much data u received. If it's too high, a greater portion will be loss if there is a packet loss. But, if it's too small, it'll take a long time, because each small packet will need to be acknowledge first ...
If I knew that, I wouldn't have used it first hand. This is my first computer, when I first bought it, it came with Win. ME, I don't think I had the choice. And I like Win 98 better too.
I've had the same problem before. After I installed cablenut adjuster, I ran TCP/IP tests using different RWIN values, but all the RWIN values in the tests turned out to be 65535. The problem was solved after I installed the SG speed & web patches. One of the values in the registry might have caused ...
Yes, u can just copy them and paste them into vmm32 folder. It's safe, if u're having problem later on, u can go back to vmm32 and delete those files. ;)
