Yea I got a bump today to about 1400...not the 3.0m I was getting 2 weeks ago but ....better,

I just got off the phone with a tier 2 tech a little while ago...He said there stilll setting up servers and stuff and that this is no where near the finished product...Thank Goodness :rotfl: :rotfl:

I used to get 3500 but now only 200 on the DSL reports test, if that means anything.

Well day 10 now and still disconnected alot (some un-repairable)

Two questions about the new settings?? XP pro


1. In Lan properties should we have a "Client for MS network"?

2. IN IE properties should "proxy server" be checked?

....reset everything to "auto obtain" and re-boot??


oh yea ....power-cycle your modem (unplug power and RJ45 for at least 30 seconds).....worked for me.....

I got the impression that DHCP assigned IP's can change at random and that all my settings need to be on "auto"

once I loaded the @home software from the old disk ,went to the website and ran the patch which in fact removed all the @home software from my system I was able to get the DHCP assigned IP and overall it has been improving daily though I am still only getting around 200k down and about 20 % of my ...

As far as Rwins are concerned I use Dr TCP to give me a range of Rwins for the new un-improved 1.5m and it doesnt seem to drop pages like it did when I was tweaked for a whopping 3.0 M

Well one thing unlike before I haven't hardly had to tweak it like the last 5 ms systems iv'e had . It' pretty Bad**s.. Right out of the box! ;)

upload speed

I'm trying to improve my upload speeds, I'm ok with my download speeds, is there a tweak or patch out there that is upload specific that won't effect my download speeds? I usually use the cybertweak patch with the cablenut adjuster for my Rwin.

Well I think I remember some Administration stuff that used to run needlessley on 2k that you could disable to free up more resources...mem and stuff

Also I noticed they migrated the "msconfig" from 9x. used to have to disable start-up apps this in the reg that im aware of ..still would like to find out the difference between "services" and " processes" though.

A while back with 2k I fooled around with some of those but dont remember what stuff I found on Axcels site, by the way way which is about half down now, Im waiting for a major XP article from him any day now..
But any who , I chose upgrade install and dont even have a burner I dont think im ready ...

Yea Lobo, Im just getting around to my IRQ's it definately seems to make more of a difference with NT rather than 9x systems. :)

Are you aware of any unnecessary processes that can be shut down in the Windows Task Manager? This being the XP Pro version and all ?
