I ended up deciding to go with 40GB. I don't play any games so it's just OS and programs. I checked my program files folder and my windows folder on my current computer (which has a lot of crap I won't be installing on the new one) and it's a combined 9GB. So, 40GB should be plenty for page file, OS ...

No games...I'll have Photoshop, Dreamweaver, MS Office, Nero, Audition, and probably a bunch of smaller files.
Even with my page file on that drive and doing restores on that drive it seems I was way overshooting. Maybe 30GB? That's probably still way overkill but it will give me room to expand if ...

How big of a partition for OS & programs?
I'm thinking 60GB would be plenty but don't want to have too little. Any thoughts? I'll have a 500GB HD so I'm thinking partition 60GB for OS & programs and the rest for files.

Sure....Tag & Rename. It's an excellent ID3 tag editor....tons of options and it can create lists of your music in Excel. I've had it for about 4 years...great investment considering the $20 or $30 I spent has given me free upgrades all these years: http://www.softpointer.com/tr.htm

I didn't say I got my movies on Tuesday and returned them Saturday. :)
I just said I made sure to ship my movies back Sat. or Monday. So, I always had 3 out plan (I just cancelled last month due to lack of movies I wanted to see and a lot of TV shows we watch....I'll be starting back up again soon ...

Ever bought from this website/thoughts on this computer?
I have never built a computer before and I'd rather not make my first attempt my main computer (which I also use for my home business). I'm looking at this website to get it from: http://www.buydirectpc.com/
I'm specifically looking at the DA-900 on this page: http://www.buydirectpc.com/page-amd ...

Computer Suggestions (lots of hard drives)
I'm looking to get a computer that I can put 4-5 hard drives into. The only brand I'd prefer to stay away from is Dell but other than that I'm pretty open. I was checking out Systemax and it looks like a few of their systems can handle it but am not sure. Also, if I do get a system and have up to 5 ...

Any idea when we might see them? I've seen some posts talking about end of '06 but I'd hope they'll be out sooner than that. Currently the biggest I've seen is 600GB....are they any bigger yet?

Thanks for the input. I ended up with a Samsung Syncmaster 19" LCD for $270 from Buy.com--which I thought was a great deal. From everything I've read it seems that Dell, Samsung & Viewsonic are among the best. It has 8ms response time which is much faster than I need but I couldn't pass up that good ...

Any suggestions for a good one? I'm looking for a 17" or 19". I don't need anything fancy...just something that looks pretty good. Trying to stay under $325 if possible.

Any recommendations for good speech-to-text software? I found some posts using search but some were from '01 and '03 so I'm sure there's new stuff out now. The posts I read from then said the technology wasn't very good and it takes forever to train. Anyone know if it's still like that?

External Hard Drive Enclosure
I did some searches and came up with a few good enclosures but some of the posts were from 2 years ago so thought I'd see if there's anything new since then. I looked on New Egg but didn't see exactly what I want...maybe I'm dreaming but this is what I'd like:

Largest size for a folder?
I've read online that Windows doesn't really have any size restrictions on how much data can be put in a folder. I'm ripping in all my music as WAV files (long story) so folder sizes are going to get huge. Does anyone have experience with really large folder sizes (like 60-80 GB per folder) to know ...
