I tried all the suggestions you gave me but it was to no avail :cry: . I tried a direct connection from my modem to pc. I bought a new ethernet cable. My modem doesnt have a firewall so that couldnt be the problem.

i notice the same error with all the tracerts ive done so far: the 2nd hop says request timed out. What else could i do to fix this and where do you think the problem originates from?

I moved my modem and router to the top of my computer table lol (printer was demoted :P). They seem to be relatively far apart from any "electrical devices"(not including computer peripherals). Umm here is a photo of my current setup:

sorry i took so long rollingstone, i had trouble with my isp; my internet was down. Its back up now at 8mbps. i just did the speedtest. Anyways, the tracert values are:
