Interesting, I have a Motorola Surfboard Cable modem and the Efficient Networks SpeedStream 5600 aDSL modem.

Configuration in my case was real easy, just a matter of plugging in and releasing and renewing the ipconfigure in the windows DOS prompt for cable; and configuring PPPoE in the M a i n S e ...

Nexland ISB Pro800Turbo

Hi, any idea when you plan to do a review on the 800turbo? Really eager to see what your thoughts would be on these beauties?

Thanks! :)

Point well taken, blebs99! However, it does become a concern when one consistently receives higher than normal packet retransmission reports on a specific test coupled with a 0% loss on line quality.

Another point to note was that before changing the MTU with DrTCP, I backed up my default register ...

Hope you guys don't mind me crashing this thread with sort of a similar issue. 29 retransmittions seems very high. dannjr, do you mean to say that my best option is to lower the MTU? What would be the best way to adjust the MTU in W2K, is there an adjuster software available for such a task?

Actual ...

Before updating with "checksum.reg" www.dslreports.com tested and reported my download speed as 3817 kbps.

After the update, the ideal would be to test with www.dslreports.com, however, had no tool points; therefore I had to test with www.computer4sure = 4425 ...

Updated with "checksum.reg" will test later and see how well it'll work with my Pro/100+ Managment Adapter.

How does the TCP/IP checksum offloading differ from the Intel version 5 software performance tuning feature, for increasing/decreasing bandwidth/CPU usage?

After several downloads attempts at various hours, I’ve established that it may not be the Intel® PRO/100+ Management Adapter that is slowing down the download speed.

At 7:22 AM and 8:44 AM the download speed with the Intel® PRO/100+ Management Adapter was 38secs for 22.3MB.

The earlier reported ...

Thanks, jarablue, I have just been using cable for about a month or so. It appears that cable seems to be faster in my area, Connecticut. Been using ADSL, much longer.

Once my router gets here at the end of April, I shall save a connection for u :D It would seem that cable length does not impede on ...

Ooh-err :o as it turns out, just realized that Wingate is in fact a software Internet Proxy. Don't know why my first impression was that Wingate was hardware.

Oh well...at least it shows that I am reading, no, scrutinizing your articles :)

Did some benchmarking with Cable and ADSL , have not ...

Philip, what are some of the other routers that you have reviewed (or about to or heard of) that can actually combine xDSL and cable?

I did read the section on "Cable Modems & xDSL Sharing," but other than software config, I only saw the Wingate 3 at the ePlace web site. But it states that ...

So it appears that you are familiar with Nexland and you do approve of their products, Philip.

My other concern is, do they really have a niche in the professional and SOHO market, as that's where they're headed. They've recently acquires a $5 million equity line of credit, which will carry them ...

Broadband shotgun!

Has anyone tried combining cable and ADSL modems for simultaneous Internet access on a system?

Or, has anyone heard of the Nexland ISB Pro800turbo router, capable of binding dual broadband Internet connections, Cable/xDSL accounts, to be accessed simultaneously by multiple users?
