I understand how you feel. We spend alot of money buying a computer, router, internet service, and then, spen alot of time trying to keep it all secure.

That is prolly the router addy.

192.168.1.1 is usually linksys

Some router addy's are 192.168.1.254

On linux the announce request to 192.168.0.255 for the workgroup is typical for SMBA
