Hi trogers,
This has nothing to do with the noise problem. Just wanted to say that I have a granddaughter in the 11th grade who just spent a month in your country. She was north of Bangkok and lived with a host family doing chores, etc. They hiked in some well known mountain, and did get a couple of ...

I had DSL years ago (2000-2002) and don't think polarity makes any difference. I was surprised to learn that DSL worked on just a half a pair. My line was one side open in the outside cable. The phone didn't work, but DSL still ran like always. Don't recall whether it was the ring or the tip side ...

I thought I recently read that Verizon was dropping that requirement and would offer "naked" DSL. Some folks no longer use a land line and are happy with using their cell phone.

Number viewing

For years it used to say that 2-3 people were viewing and give their names. Now, it always seems that there are 30-40 viewing at any given time. Wonder what has caused the major increase in viewers.

This filter post caught my eye. The TV in the room with the computer has a picture with some verticle lines on certain channel which are not present i a TV in the next room. Both TVs are alike and only about 3 months old.

Where would the cable company place such a filter?

Telus speedtest

I have used telus speedtest http://speedtest.mybc.com/
for over a year without a problem. Now, it just takes me to their home page and I don't see a link to their speed test. Has anyone had success with Telus lately?

The thing you are 4700 feet from is called a central office or CO for short. I have had Verizon DSL for 18 months. After a rocky start, the reliability is much improved. Dropped connections are rare now. The throughput, which had been around 500kps has dropped to ~250 for the past few days. This is ...

You ought to give tech support a try at 800-567-6789. You might get lucky and only need a simple change of settings. Others may have some worthwhile suggestions for you.

No dial tone, but DSL works

Yesterday, my phone was out of order as one side of the line was open. This was confirmed by Repair Service MLT test showing the line as open 550 feet away from me. Sure enough, they found an open in a splice closure two sections away frommy house where a bird had built a nest.

The surprising thing ...
