I have no way of connecting my cell phone to the Tivo unit, and even if I could, calling the US from Cuba would be prohibitively expensive. I thought of the USB male/male cable, but I don't have one, as that's really only used to transferring data from PC to PC, not for hooking a USB device up to a ...

No, the DirecTv works fine, with the exception of PPV, which I don't care about, but the only thing that I can use the Tivo for is pausing and rewinding up to 30 minutes, not for scheduling shows to be recorded, which is what I want to be able to do.

Any ideas?

Does anyone here have any help to offer? I've looked all over online, but all the ideas I've come across involve putting ,#401 as the dialing prefix, and then using a USB ethernet adapter to hook the Tivo up to the network. I'm not in the US, and can't just run off to Best Buy or Radio Shack to get ...

Ok, after some digging around, I found out that I don't have any USB cables with male A connectors at both ends, which is what it would take to hook up to my laptop via USB. So, is there any way to have the Tivo "dial in" to my laptop's modem, and then bridge the connection between my laptop's modem ...

Tivo without a phone line

I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to let my Tivo (DirecTV DVR R10) dial up if I don't have a landline available. There are two USB jacks on the back, as well as an RJ-11. I don't have access to a store to buy a USB ethernet adapter, either. I was thinking, maybe I can connect the Tivo to my ...

As far as getting your laptop, connected to wifi, to have a static IP address, why not just manually assign it an IP address from outside the range that the DHCP on the router assigns? For instance, 192.168.1.99? Basically, any address from .1-.99, or from .150-254 will work, and won't have any ...

Well, first call your internet provider. If they say they don't register your MAC address, you don't need to worry about it. MAC = media access control, basically your network interface connection's (NIC's) SSN, so that different devices on the network can tell them apart. IP addresses can be set ...

Find out if they need you to register your MAC address with them, and if so, either call them up and register the MAC of your Linksys gateway, or clone the MAC address of your computer onto the Linksys.

You need to make sure your computer is plugged into one of the (I'm guessing there are) 4 LAN ports, and that your computer is set to use DHCP, which means its IP address is automatically assigned by whatever it's connected to, in this case, the router. If you have it staticly assigned, and it's ...

My quick guess

Here's my guess: your wireless router and ICS are both trying to use the same net, 192.168.0.x to assign IP addresses. You either need to subnet it, or change one of them to use a different network, perhaps 192.168.1.x. Unless you know how to subnet, just changing the network is probably easier.
